Have nc for obvious reasons and changed some details.
I'm a very regular poster, most days, in fact.
My dd has told me she has an account on here and I'm right pissed off.
She is a teen, no children, and stealing my place of sanctuary.
Argh I agree with those now who say the site should be for parents, what's the flippin attraction for kids on here.
She said she has posted o education, extra curricular, teens, style and beauty, body and soul.
AIBU to hide all her devices.

Not with kids!!!
My DD frequently noses on Mumsnet. Reads many of the threads and often wants to comment. She's 9!

Billy02 · 02/06/2019 19:53

Mine says she will try and find me, so we can have a chat.
I told her it doesn't work like that, she knows I have met a few with a common interest who regularly pm each other.
I'm scared to comment on threads now.
I don't think AIBU to ask for just a bit of privacy, it's tantamount to reading my diary

Why is the fact that she has no children relevant?

She could read the site whether she had an account or not.

Billy02 · 02/06/2019 19:54

I know, anybody can. But she is a member and has posted, it's just to spite me.
What teen wants to associate with something their mum does, is it not uncool?

I don't have kids and have been on here since 2010 (under my old reg - still miss the '1000 posts' feature).

MN is a busy site, full of opinionated posters who are intelligent, articulate, funny, diverse and interesting. You can swear and very few topics are off limits. What's not to love?

ControversialFerret · 02/06/2019 20:08

Isn't it more likely that she's heard you talking about it, come for a look to see what it's about, liked it and decided to join up?

Billy02 · 02/06/2019 21:32

Of course it has all the listed things above, but I'm going to have to come off here or choose what I post, then I lose the freedom. I don't ask for much Grin I might start saying it's crap and going down hill.
So if my dd is reading this go and revise or something.

I felt the same when my sister ( adult and mother of 2) joined! Eventually I got used to it and dont think about it much. Hopefully dd moves on soon. Occasionally I change details in my comments a little to make sure I am not discovered!
