To think we won’t have a warm summer this year

The weather has been rubbish apart from the odd nice day. When is it going to start warming up 😩😩

OP posts:
Nacreous · 02/06/2019 20:49

My garden has got up to 28 in the shade today. Definitely summer here!

bedunkalilt · 02/06/2019 20:51

I was hoping this would be a theory that as it’s so hot now, it won’t be hot later on!

We’re in London. It’s been 26C, blue skies so bright and strong sunshine, heat is beating down, pretty much no breeze, warm evenings, we’re sleeping with fans on. I’m hoping we don’t have months of heatwave, I’m not built for that.

missyB1 · 02/06/2019 20:54

It always seems to be warmer in the South East. We have friends who live in Kent they always have better weather than us (we are Gloucestershire). Dh often says we need to move to Kent!

Yabbers · 02/06/2019 20:58

It seems like there has been a definite north south divide weatherwise recently.

Not sure about that. I’m north and it’s been muggy and hot the past few days.

Slicedpineapple · 02/06/2019 21:05

It's been roasting where I am for weeks (Yes, in England!)

Sallycinnamum · 02/06/2019 21:06

Most of the ling range forecasts I've seen have said it's going to be a mixed bag of warm and wet weather. Certainly not a heatwave like last year thank God!

PumpkinPie2016 · 02/06/2019 21:22

I'm in the North of England and it's been warm this week but quite wet.

I'm going to Cornwall in summer so would like some sunny days for the beach but nicely warm would do me. I'm not a sun worshipper really and don't cope well in hot weather.

I like some rain in between as we are on well water so no rain can mean limited water supply.

Michaelbaubles · 02/06/2019 21:28

I bought a sunlounger when it was nice a few weeks ago. I used it the day I bought it and never since. I expect I shall be tripping over it in my garage for the rest of time as I have now jinxed the weather until the damn thing rusts.

greenlloon · 02/06/2019 21:28

ask all those talking about global warming?

TapasForTwo · 02/06/2019 21:59

Will you pesky southerners stop gloating about how hot it is and send the heat up north Grin

I'm still in jeans, socks and trainers.

GreytExpectations · 02/06/2019 22:03

Love the warm and hot weather! 25 is my favourite. So many miserable people in the UK moan about the sun 🙄 i did find it amusing last year when people wouldnt stop complaining about the weather in July...its summer, its supposed to be hot!

SolitudeAtAltitude · 02/06/2019 22:10

Pesky Southerner here,

Sport event over the last 3 days, covered in factor 50, still got a tan. Not had rain for almost a month, lawn yellow

Hampshire

OhYouBadBadKitten · 02/06/2019 22:10

Actually, May was bang on average and the rest of the year has been warmer than the mean temperature in England.

The met office say that we are more likely to have a warmer than average 3 months through August rather than a colder than average.

Jocasta2018 · 02/06/2019 22:12

I don't mind if it's hot or cold but we need to get some heavy rain here in Surrey. We've had very little rain over the autumn/winter/spring - the ground is so dry I have to water the flower beds to weed them.
As for the lawns....
(Of course the bloody weeds grow regardless of the soil dryness).

TapasForTwo · 02/06/2019 22:31

I agree that more rain is needed in many areas. Our reservoirs in Yorkshire are looking pretty healthy, but one of the reservoirs in Longdendale (Greater Manchester) is looking almost empty. Spring here has been drier than usual, and we have already had some moor fires.

Girlicorne · 02/06/2019 22:50

rubbish in the midlands too, always seems to be lovely mon to fri when I m at work then rubbish at the weekend! I want last year's weather again!!!!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 03/06/2019 08:48

We are desperate for rain in many regions.

This was April

To think we won’t have a warm summer this year
Pinkvoid · 03/06/2019 09:04

It’s been extremely muggy here and we’ve had the odd hot day but typically not during half term. My DC have another week off for some reason and it looks like it’s going to rain most of the week so yay...

Halloumimuffin · 03/06/2019 09:14

It was 27 degrees in London on Saturday, burnt through my factor 30 suncream on a 40 minute run - if anything I hope it doesn't get any bloody hotter!

JacquesHammer · 03/06/2019 09:18

Yorkshire here.

Not much rain this week, although enough to postpone gardening, pleasantly warm.

Perfect weather for me!

Ivy44 · 03/06/2019 13:02

18 degrees here in Manchester but cloudy and a bit humid. My least favourite type of weather!

tisonlymeagain · 03/06/2019 13:05

I feel like it's been quite warm already. I'd be happy if it were this temp every day.

Unshriven · 03/06/2019 13:07

Boiling here.

No forecast of less than 18 degrees.

I'll be dying from now until November. Sad

chillychicken · 03/06/2019 13:17

South coast here Hampshire and I’m Confused at anyone saying it’s been boiling for weeks. I’m still wearing a jumper at work! Saturday was ok but cloudy in the afternoon, yesterday was cloudy and about 15.
It’s about 17 and very windy today. Ok in the sunshine, cold in the shade. I want a super hot summer again.

TapasForTwo · 03/06/2019 15:44

I would like it to be anything between 22 and 25 degrees - not too hot, and not too cold.
