I just saw an amazingly flattering jumpsuit for £55. Looked closer and it was in the sale. Looked closer again and there was one left. Looked even closer and the price tag said £9.99!

And it's my size! Tried it on and it looks great. I'm so chuffed.

I also got a large leather Jigsaw handbag, new with tags, for £60 recently. It was originally £350.

Lidl half bottles of Comte de Senneval (their own brand) champagne were going through the till at £2 today.

KnitterOfSocks · 03/06/2019 00:10

Loads on eBay. I rarely pay more than £7/8 for dresses from Fat Face/Seasalt/Mantaray which retail around £50/60

Since I lost weight and can now get in a 12/14 there are so many bargains.

£764 each for return flights to Orlando for August. Economy going out, premium economy coming back. That's cheaper than even standard economy both ways. A quick look at BA shows that the equivalent flights now would be well over double what I've paid.

Internet shopping at 1 am pays off Grin

I love telling of my bargain! I used to work in TKMaxx about 12-13 years ago, it was a real bargain hunter's dream back then. They have a 'final clearance' every season or so where the red ticket sales items are continually scamped and reduced further and further, all the good stuff selling until usually you're left with a couple of rails of either damaged or just very naff items left. Last day of one clearance a lady returned a full Calvin Klein black suit, trousers and blazer, which had to be reduced to its last selling price and put out for sale. Last price before taking off shelves was 30p.... yep I put it behind for myself as the blazer fitted perfectly over my rather considerable chest Smile although admittedly the trousers needed approx 7 inches taking off the bottom! And yes, I did claim my 10% staff discount so got it for 27p Grin. Couple more great bits to be had in later years, Betty Barclay cardis that I still have now (hoarder!) which I grabbed when only £1-2 apiece

90p lipstick (in the exact colour I was searching for) and £1.50 for 9 pairs of pearl earrings - both from Primark!

BeanBag7 · 03/06/2019 06:57

2 Le Creuset casserole dishes (used but fine) for £4 each.
Cosy Coupe for my daughter, dusty but like new underneath. £5
Brio train set and table in tkmaxx reduced from £125 to £24

I don't understand charity shops selling designer brands for 50p, especially with the tags on. Surely someone working there must realise they're worth loads more and people would still buy them for £10?

Sleepylou · 03/06/2019 08:08

@time40
They're gorgeous aren't they! I can't imagine why anyone would ever get rid of one. He must have just had no idea what he had.
We had a look once we were home and as far as we are aware the model is a 99k and it's from 1951, it's a semiautomatic model, so it can be plugged in too. It has all the original paperwork with it which just adds even more to it's charm.
We intend to have it out as a decoration piece but I'd imagine I will have a play with it. I bet it is highly satisfying to use, and lovely that you have the sentimental element to it.
I keep getting it out of the case and just looking at it 😆

@Sleepylou - yes, it's definitely the same machine, then - even the instruction book is identical. They ARE highly satisfying to use!

Do you want a bit of advice? It's probably been standing unused for years, so give it a really good clean (ie, a good brushing with a very small brush like a stiff artist's brush). The worst place for fluff build-up is in the bobbin race. Then give it some sewing machine oil. You've probably seen the diagram in the book that shows all the oiling points. Run it slowly to make sure everything is happy, and then, if it is, run it really fast for a couple of minutes - that will get the oil warm and make it move right inside all those little parts that most probably haven't moved for a very long time. If it turns out not to be working perfectly, there are still lots of people around who can mend and service these machines. Sorry if you know all that already!

@Time40 and @Sleepylou. My vintage Singer was made in 1926! It is in perfect working order and regularly used both by my DD and by me. I would never, never part with it. It is a wonderful piece of social history and a pleasure to use. I hope you both have many years of happy sewingSmile

littledrummergirl · 03/06/2019 14:07

A pair of shorts in sainsburys yesterday. Marked as reduced to £5, plus 25% of sale. Went through the till at 75p.

DieCryHate · 03/06/2019 14:42

£60 pink court shoes from Office reduced to £19. I had a £15 voucher from Christmas lurking in my purse (for the department store) so cost me £4 of my own dosh.

JumpingFrogs · 03/06/2019 15:17

Waitrose were selling off all their Christmas gift wrap for 10p a roll in January. I took the opportunity to stock up !

MulesToJoules · 03/06/2019 15:55

Update - I'm really Shock at Waitrose. I never find anything good in my local supermarkets.

I just finished in Waitrose (Canary Wharf) and the generous buggers are giving stuff away for free (almost).

49p for two tarts.

10p for a fancy cupcake with character icing.

55p for a huge huge bottle of water.

I was very impressed.

Lots of heavily reduced meats too, such as £2.50 for a leg of lamb. Jesus really did weep.

Not product related...We were having supper last July at nice Boston restaurant, just as our meal was delivered to our table, a huge thunderstorm broke out. The lights kept flicking off and on and then finally went off totally. We sat and finished our meal, our 10 yr old found it very exciting. We were presented with no bill at the end as the manager was upset we had to eat our food in a dimly light room (huge windows looking out over the water, it was perfectly fine) Our bill would have been $120 USD. Our daughter still talks about it.

lazymare · 07/06/2019 09:13

Waitrose does do great reductions. Plus they bombard me with money off vouchers.

lovelylondonsky · 07/06/2019 09:21

I'd been looking everywhere for a swimsuit that fit and flattered. I was willing to pay upwards of £30 for the right one but just couldn't find it.

Eventually I found one in Primark for a fiver which was perfect. When I took it to the till it rang through at 50p!!!!

bratzilla · 08/06/2019 01:01

Huggies baby wipes for 25p a pack. My dad got me a pair of GHD’s when they were on sale, I’ve had them 12 years Grin
