They are 9 and 5 years old. Thanks

I think the best thing would be to contact your local authority education department and ask them.

You can contact the school and and see if they have any places available for them to start in September. They should be able to tell you and there will be forms to fill it.

If there are places at their old school you can apply using their current address and they'd have to give you a place, and they can then move.

If there are no places then you'd need to move them first so their registered address is yours, and then they'd be nearer the top of any waiting lists.

If no spaces anywhere near then the council will have to find you a place somewhere eventually using 'fair access protocol'.

You normally have to take up a place within X weeks of being offered it so check with council what would happen if you were offered a place immediately.

They aren't guaranteed a place at old school. Younger will come under infant class size restriction rules which would make winning an appeal harder.

Proper experts on the Primary Education board.
