I’m slightly hungover and a bit delicate so more sensitive than usual...

I’m just chilling out listening to a playlist, Travelin’ Soldier by Dixie Chicks came on and I am BAWLING.

Toy soldier, Matika...a take on life when drugs take over.

chocolatefoxes · 02/06/2019 15:23

Nicest Thing - Kate Nash

Vulpine · 02/06/2019 15:30

Run by snow patrol. A woman once requested it on the radio for her son fighting in Afghanistan. Now every time I hear it I think of them

lottieleo · 02/06/2019 15:30

Sarah Ann McLachlan Angel
Even humming it makes me want to start sobbing

Seren85 · 02/06/2019 15:33

Country Roads (family funeral)
Goodnight Sweetheart from Three Man and a Baby (watched it when my Nana was dying)
Billy Don't Be A Hero
YNWA (not even a Liverpool fan)

Seren85 · 02/06/2019 15:34

Oh and This Used To Be My Playground from League of Their Own.

PositiveVibez · 02/06/2019 15:36

Caramel by John Grant. The words are so beautiful and with the music it's just so gorgeous.

Never Enough off the greatest showman.

ContadoraExplorer · 02/06/2019 16:44

Abide With Me. I'm not religious but as it's always played at funerals or the remembrance day concert, I just have to hear the first line and start welling up.

DaveCoachesgavemetheclap · 02/06/2019 16:47

Oh yes, Abide with me! Especially the line "Hold thou thy cross before my closing eyes" 😢

PositiveVibez · 02/06/2019 16:48

Also Venice Queen by red hot chilli peppers. After reading Anthony kedis' autobiography and about the song it makes me cry.

bumblenbean · 02/06/2019 16:53

Perfect day by Lou Reed

springtime12 · 02/06/2019 17:06

Run by snow patrol. My best friend moved away and it's the first song I heard as we left each other to say good bye, it made me cry then, and now always reminds me of him and still makes me cry now 😭

Ski4130 · 02/06/2019 17:20

Home Again by Michael Kiwanaku - Every. Single. Time. I heard it playing in the supermarket after we’d just emigrated to NZ and I was almost sobbing. It hits me in the gut to hear it even now, reminds me of feeling homesick and being so fat from home.

Put your records on by Corrine Bailey Rae - it’s my song to my children, and I love the ‘three little birds sat on my window’ line, as it reminds me of my three dc.

Days by Kirsty MacColl - I played it to my mum just before we left the UK, because I wanted her to know how grateful I was for her. Still chokes me.

Rainbowsparkle · 02/06/2019 17:30

One More Light by Linkin Park, every time without fail.

confussedmisfit · 02/06/2019 17:46

Wires-athlete.

My lad was in and incubator and UV light tank not long after being born due to slight jaundice. Plus my wife was in intensive care for 24 hours after the birth, and there I was just going WTF.

Yet just like the song, looking at him now, you would never knooooowwwww. (He's 6 now)

user1471453601 · 02/06/2019 17:47

The Kop singing YNWA. Never hear this without thinking of the 96. Breaks my heart every single game

user1471453601 · 02/06/2019 17:49

Oh, and more so now that the team have taken to singing it back to.us

Tighnabruaich · 02/06/2019 18:27

The Winner Takes It All
Baby Mine
Baker Street
Slipping Through My Fingers
In My Life

Mytholmroyd · 02/06/2019 18:43

I'll be seeing you by Anne Shelton - I cannot get through this song without sobbing - it just seems to encapsulate all the wasted lives of war and those whose lives were devasted but they had to cope and it fills me with sadness and helplessness

Gigis · 02/06/2019 18:52

Slipping through my fingers by Abba made my mum cry. We watched mamma Mia a week before my wedding and she bawled her eyes out! I didnt understand it really, especially as shes not an abba fan at all. Now I have a dd of my own I totally understand

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 02/06/2019 19:06

Perfect and Supermarket Flowers by Ed Sheeran. Perfect was playing on the radio in the ward when my Mum was dying. The doctor asked me if I wanted the radio turned off but she loved music so I told him it was OK. Perfect summer her up.

We had Supermarket Flowers at her funeral. I know it's cheesy but the line 'you were an angel in the shape of my Mum' summed up how I felt.

Also Country Roads as we had it at Dad's funeral.

hellomellowyellow87 · 02/06/2019 19:10

Photograph by Ed Sheeran. Especially the video right at the end where just before the last line of ‘wait for me to come home’, it’s a home video where his dad says ‘are you on top of the mountain?’ Sad makes me teary just typing that
