NC for this, I'm a long term poster but don't know if I'm being unreasonable.
Twice today I have seen posts on Facebook with links to send money because they are skint and have unexpected bills or need rent money.
AIBU to think wtf!! We all have times where we have no money but I wouldn't go to Facebook to ask for people to bail me out 🤷🏻‍♀️
I 100% know I'm being unreasonable, just a little rant really.

YANBU

But sounds odd, could it be they’ve been hacked or something?

NewSchoolNewName · 01/06/2019 00:24

I don’t think you are being unreasonable.

I think this sort of thing is bonkers and a bit of CFery unless there’s extenuating circumstances such as all their worldly possessions having been destroyed by some freak event.

But I wouldn’t say anything. I’d just roll my eyes and scroll past.

Was 2 separate people and looked legit

YANBU.

Did anyone contribute?

RantingMum · 01/06/2019 00:26

@NewSchoolNewName oh no I wouldn't say anything to either of them I just can't believe people would do it

I have seen this before and its been a scam , on the last occasion the person didn't know the post had gone up a few days ago ( he doesn't use FB much ) . A friend text him to ask if everything was ok , it was but unlike on here ( thank you MNHQ ) it can be a bugger to get post taken down and even then they can pop straight back up with in a few mins

RantingMum · 01/06/2019 00:32

@Angie169 both were real posts because I know what they are like and it's not the first time 😏

YABU because no-one is being forced to do anything. There are thousands of requests for money all over the internet at any point but asking doesn't mean people have to give. That's their choice.

Shinesweetfreedom · 01/06/2019 01:26

Has anyone given anything. What excuses are they coming up with for the money

Jog22 · 01/06/2019 03:06

Just ignore them. You don't have to respond to things, it's not an order, noone is checking up on you. Move on to something that's relevant to you - in life I mean not FB.

RantingMum · 01/06/2019 15:42

One is to pay for rent and other was an unexpected bill, half of me thinks if I could afford to I would help but the other half of me thinks we all have to manage ourselves 🤷🏻‍♀️
