AIBU for feeling so overwhelmed?

I’ve just read through some posts regarding legal cases falling through and it’s suddenly sent my head spinning over all of the things I’ll need to teach my DC as they grow older

I feel so I’ll equipped; how will I remember to teach my child how to avoid being in the company of people who falsely accuse rape or how to physically or emotionally defend themselves from predators? How to avoid making the planet a worse place? How to navigate through normal emotional milestones? How to tell the difference between sad and depressed?

When do I know if the child I’m raising has enough tools to be safe?

I’m feeling extremely anxious about all of this, I feel so certain I’m going to grow a child that struggles and eventually resents me (cue me talking about my mother on the couch)

It sounds like your dc are not very old yet. So you have time to plan. One thing I did was create some family rules/morals. So “In the sea family we are always kind”
We always tell the truth
If someone is hurt/being hurt we always get help

It helps if you look at it from a long term perspective because if you make detailed plans for scenarios then they never work as something is always different on the day

That is a really helpful way of looking at it thanks, I sort of assumed I would be successful at going with the flow, it’s probably best to think more of the bogger picture
