I don’t want to give my passwords to insurance company

DS dropped my MacBook down the stairs. Insurance company are coming to collect it today to fix it.

They’ve asked for my password to log on. I asked why they need my password and it’s so they can see if the screen is fixed properly. There is no touch screen facility so surely once the new screen is on they can see if it’s fixed or not just by turning it on? I said they can log into the guest account but they want the password to my actual account.

I have photo albums I don’t really want some random having access too. Plus god knows how many documents which are private

AIBU to say no?!

I wouldn't say yes either!

I can't say I know what is standard for these types of thing but I'm with you, I wouldn't give it them as I don see why they'd need it! Surely seeing the log on screen would show the screen was working

Say no, I've only ever needed to enable the guest account for repairs to my laptop, including for a screen replacement.
