Just that really. My sons tutor has taught him this and several people have said she’s wrong.... so how many sides does a circle have?

OP posts:
CharityConundrum · 30/05/2019 12:17

I believe it is officially none- it has one curved edge.

FiddlesticksAkimbo · 30/05/2019 12:17

Either one, or infinity!

BlueSkiesLies · 30/05/2019 12:17

None?

BlueSkiesLies · 30/05/2019 12:18

OMG GOOGLE SAYS 2 sides

BlueSkiesLies · 30/05/2019 12:18

But that would mean a square has 8...

MRex · 30/05/2019 12:19

None, because it's 2 dimensional. It has one edge.

araiwa · 30/05/2019 12:19
  1. Inside and outside
smartcarnotsosmartdriver · 30/05/2019 12:19

I was always taught one, back in the day

AngelicInnocent · 30/05/2019 12:20

2 sides. An inside and an outside Grin

One of the 1st jokes my kids learnt

GenuineKlatchianPottery · 30/05/2019 12:20

The inside and the outside. So 2?

Whynotnowbaby · 30/05/2019 12:20

Surely two sides is a disc, when we talk about sides of a shape it’s the straight edges so a triangle had three and a square had four, surely that means a circle had none.

SoupDragon · 30/05/2019 12:20

OMG GOOGLE SAYS 2 sides

😂 Mine says 0. Which shows how reliable google is!

Whynotnowbaby · 30/05/2019 12:23

What does the tutor say?

Tolleshunt · 30/05/2019 12:23

I've taught 3 year old DD it has one..... oh dear, was that wrong?

SpeckofStardust · 30/05/2019 12:24

0 - it has one infinite edge
Or
2 - inside and outside

firawla · 30/05/2019 12:25

I thought it was 1 curved side?!

Tolleshunt · 30/05/2019 12:25

But why is the inside counted when we don't count the inside of, say, a square?

spaghettispool · 30/05/2019 12:26

An inside and an outside

Bromeliad · 30/05/2019 12:26

I seem to remember that to mathematically calculate the circumference you can treat it as a polyhedron with an infinite number of edges.

CircleofWillis · 30/05/2019 12:26

The inside and outside thing is a 'joke'.

CircleofWillis · 30/05/2019 12:27

what does the tutor say? I have always thought 1.

IsAStormApporaching · 30/05/2019 12:28

Our dd had this question for homework.
It turned into a full family argument discussion.
She got fed up with us and wrote 1 or 0 😂
I said 1 continuous side btw

janetforpresident · 30/05/2019 12:28

Definitely 1

Ah, thank-you circle, I must have had a sense of humour failure today!

Tawdrylocalbrouhaha · 30/05/2019 12:29

According to the 90s pop song: "there is no wrong, there is no right...The circle only has one siiiiiiide".
