How many sides does a circle have?

Just that really. My sons tutor has taught him this and several people have said she’s wrong.... so how many sides does a circle have?

I believe it is officially none- it has one curved edge.

None, because it's 2 dimensional. It has one edge.

Surely two sides is a disc, when we talk about sides of a shape it’s the straight edges so a triangle had three and a square had four, surely that means a circle had none.

But why is the inside counted when we don't count the inside of, say, a square?

I seem to remember that to mathematically calculate the circumference you can treat it as a polyhedron with an infinite number of edges.

The inside and outside thing is a 'joke'.
