To think 4* Greek hotel shouldn't flood with sewerage?

Just that really. Our room has flooded twice and no one seems concerned. Cleaners come and clean up but it stinks and is horrid. I've traveled a lot around Europe and Turkey and have never had this. Is this normal?

Have you been putting toilet paper down the toilet? If you have, then that's why it's flooding.

Cherrysoup · 30/05/2019 10:15

Greece is notorious for narrow sewerage pipes that can’t cope. Is there a notice about this anywhere?

NoBaggyPants · 30/05/2019 10:16

Building standards are poor in Greece, so it's not a surprise, and the star rating doesn't matter one bit. Have you asked to move rooms?

adaline · 30/05/2019 10:18

I'm pretty sure some places ask for toilet paper not to be flushed as the sewerage systems can't cope?

araiwa · 30/05/2019 10:18

Not sure why you think star rating is related to it.

Chuck toilet paper sanitary products etc down a 5 or 1 toilet theyll both get blocked and flood

TheCanterburyWhales · 30/05/2019 10:19

Neither should a no-star hostel. Hmm

Have you stopped putting stuff down the drains that you shouldn't?

Have you spoken to the hotel management/your rep etc?

LemonScentedStickyBat · 30/05/2019 10:19

It’s quite likely other people in the hotel flushing paper and sanitary products unfortunately. Not much you can do about it when people don’t follow the rules.

LIZS · 30/05/2019 10:20

Ask to move rooms, complain?

Shoxfordian · 30/05/2019 10:27

Have you been flushing toilet roll down the loo?

Unfinishedkitchen · 30/05/2019 10:30

I’ve seen raw sewage running through the street in Greece and nobody seemed bothered. Found tourist areas in Turkey to be far cleaner. Complain to the manger in writing so you have evidence.

Deafdonkey · 30/05/2019 13:57

Thanks, no it's not us flushing the paper but someone else connected to our pipes, it's just the complete lack of shock or apology. Can't move rooms as hotel is full and or TUI rep is about as much use as a chocolate teapot.

LIZS · 30/05/2019 14:04

You need to be more for forceful with rep and put your complaint in writing to customer services. Be clear what remedy you are seeking - new room, hotel etc. There will be something somewhere.

HariboLectar · 30/05/2019 14:08

Post photos on the TUI facebook page

AdaShelby · 30/05/2019 14:09

That's gross. I'd be spamming the fuck out of their FB and twitter accounts
