To think Amanda Holden is out of control

Am I the only one to think that she's completely over the top in this year's BGT, not being very funny when she thinks she is and I'm wondering if she won't have her contract renewed. Not to mention last night's swearing. I think there are better people. I wonder when Simon will realise it.

I’m in sorry! I have been ON.the almonde baileys nightcap Grin

HelenaDove · 29/05/2019 01:52

I dont watch BGT. Im in my mid forties so have seen this whole celeb culture, reality TV and normalization of things like Botox emerge and i dont like it.

I prefer what TV was like years/decades ago. Thank God for Talking Pics TV and Forces TV.

herecomesthsun · 29/05/2019 02:16

Is it only me that groans loudly at the M and S till and mutters "Aaargh arrgh no no is there no way to turn it off? stop it stop it Christonabike?"

M and S should sack the marketing guys that came up with that turkey.

Betsy86 · 29/05/2019 02:42

I felt quite sorry for her to be honest. It must of stirred up slot of emotion for her seeing as the acts story line was about a mother losing her child. It wasn’t all that long ago she went through her horrendous ordeal losing her baby amd going through a really difficult time as pp mentioned.
I did think the act was done very well but i do think anyone calling in to complain at the swear word is ridiculous she must of been feeling very scared and emotional.
Yes maybe she over acts abit on the panel but sod it shes making her money year after year and if they wanted to pay me that amount to sit on a panel and be abit ott i would accept Grin
Only thing i cant get over yhis year is Aleesha wearing what looks like a percussion triangle in one ear and a tiny earring in the other Grin

Betsy86 · 29/05/2019 02:45

Also cant get over all my typos... excuse those im half asleep 💤

OkPedro · 29/05/2019 03:01

Why is it that women can’t like other women without being called jealous?! I won’t comment on Amanda H looks or Alesha D but they are the reason i don’t watch BGT. It has nothing to do with what they look like. I find their personalities irritating and fake. I also have no time for David Walliams either, what a twat

CarolDanvers · 29/05/2019 03:48

Jealous of what? Bitter about what? Confused

I don't like her. I find her incredibly annoying. I don't think she's particularly talented and don't know why she's has a job deciding whether other people have talent or not. Why does expressing this mean I am jealous of her or bitter about her success? Why are women never allowed to express a negative opinion about another woman without being told they are jealous and bitter?

KooMoo · 29/05/2019 04:57

Amanda is lovely. She always says what I’m thinking (about the acts that is).

She does work hard to maintain how she looks but that isn’t a crime.

MumsNetters do seem to dislike her for some reason.

Now David on the other hand. He is out and out sleazy. If the Same comments were said to women there would be uproar. For example last night he was recommending the blokes wear leather shorts.

Deviant he is, a filthy deviant Grin

Pa1oma · 29/05/2019 07:36

I’ve met Amanda Holden quite a few times. She’s lovely. I think most women on here are just jealous of her because she’s almost 50 and looks incredible. She is very beautiful in real life - not fake at all. Good for her. It’s other people who are insecure, not her.

springgreensunshine · 29/05/2019 07:42

she had a stillbirth and is being criticized for swearing at something triggering

I thought that too, that it was a bit unkind to make her take part in an act involving a dead child when she had a baby who died.

I hope if that woman gets a wild card into the final Amanda refuses to take part. I would.

Conks · 29/05/2019 07:50

There are some nasty comments on this thread. Typical of women though

caroline161 · 29/05/2019 07:54

Do you not think Amanda was all part of that act and had rehearsed it before? That's why I'm not really buying it that she was frightened. David walliams is over the top but really funny. She's over the top and doesn't get the laughs which causes tension. Agree with the comment about Simon this year who seems to be continually telling the other judges(especially her) off under his breath. That doesn't make for easy watching either.

OP posts:
MyNameIsCharlesII · 29/05/2019 07:57

David Walliams is not really funny. He’s sleezy.

Bloomburger · 29/05/2019 07:57

She makes me want to smash my fucking shopping into the self check out at M&S, thank God I don't watch BGT or there would be a blood bath in our house each weekend.

She's got that sort of Heather Mills face. You're not sure why but you have an overwhelming urge to slap it.

Ali1cedowntherabbithole · 29/05/2019 08:01

Yeah, let’s criticise Amanda for trying “too hard” to look young.

Then let’s cheer when she is replaced by a younger woman.

Or maybe we could accept older women on TV without finding it triggering?

AndOutComeTheBoobs · 29/05/2019 08:07

I couldn't care less how she looks. She's awful. She over the top fake "laughs" like a drain. I physically cringe when she does it.

She's just generally over the top and ridiculous.

I can't abide her.

ZorbeeAndTheLemur · 29/05/2019 08:14

This thread is so nasty

SchadenfreudePersonified · 29/05/2019 08:15

I really liked her in The Grimleys, but that's about it really.

I loved the Grimleys.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 29/05/2019 08:16

David Walliams is not really funny. He’s sleezy.

Isn't he though?

Really skin-crawlingly creepy.

Thuglife · 29/05/2019 08:17

The whole programme has become fairly tired & lacking in exciting new acts tbh. However pages of comments ripping the shit out of AH & AD make fairly depressing reading. Wtf has her physical appearance got to do with anything?
Women absolutely are the worst critics of other women sometimes- we have to put up with this shit from men day in day out can we not try to support one another? And breathe...GrinI seem to have woken up all ranty

HPLikecraft · 29/05/2019 08:18

Horrible thread. Sure, it’s fine to dislike a celeb, but it’s always females who bear the brunt of the bitchiness that’s on here.

People are criticising AH for trying to stay youthful, but what the heck has SC been doing to his face? He looks like a waxwork. And as for try hard, well DW is the epitome of that.
And if AH does let herself get older, then she’ll be lambasted for that, so she can’t win.

Agree with other posters that some can’t stand a confident woman on telly.

snowbear66 · 29/05/2019 08:21

Totally in agreement here about the M&S checkout. Why? Why? Why?

100percentplease · 29/05/2019 08:24

Alesha makes me cringe when she puts on that accent as soon as there’s a black act on.

Amanda isn’t too bad.

YoThePussy · 29/05/2019 08:26

Haven’t bothered with BGT for several series now but have just watched The Ghost segment on You Tube. Agree with the PP if that act gets through on a wildcard Amanda should refuse to take part. I may be in a minority but thought she looked lovely, wish I could wear a lovely sparkly dress like that and look so good.
