To think Amanda Holden is out of control

Am I the only one to think that she's completely over the top in this year's BGT, not being very funny when she thinks she is and I'm wondering if she won't have her contract renewed. Not to mention last night's swearing. I think there are better people. I wonder when Simon will realise it.

I can't say I've paid much attention to AH of late but she's not had an easy time has she? Miscarriage, stillbirth, nearly dying in labour, these things are hardly conducive to good mental health. Not to mention sex with Les Dennis. What happened anyway, did she just say 'fuck' live on air or something?

UrsulaPandress · 28/05/2019 23:08

Was she in Wild at Heart? I loved that programme.

SamBaileys · 28/05/2019 23:08

I've sensed a bit if tension between Simon and Amanda this week- last night he told her stop over acting when the scary lady had started to focus on her. I'm not keen on her but I can't put my finger on why.

floraloctopus · 28/05/2019 23:10

Can't stand a successful woman then ?

DuchessOfRednecks · 28/05/2019 23:11

Dont hate her.

But agree, she is trying too hard to not age. It comes across as insecure.

CarolDanvers · 28/05/2019 23:14

Can't stand her, never could. I am baffled that she is in a position to be able to judge other people's talent when she has so little herself.

Justwanttotravel · 28/05/2019 23:16

Love her, she’s great!

ZorbeeAndTheLemur · 28/05/2019 23:17

I don't see the issue in someone trying not to age. She's 48 and looks great! So what if she has Botox; plenty of other women and men (Simon!) have it too.

Sagradafamiliar · 28/05/2019 23:18

She lays it on SO thick. And she's head over heels in love with herself. And she sells tat on QVC 😂

dayswithaY · 28/05/2019 23:20

There was a thread exactly like this last year when BGT was on, something about how awful she looks, etc. She seems to bring out the worst in people. I think she looks amazing but there's something off about her this year, she keeps talking and Simon keeps cutting her off, like he's irritated by her. The acts this year are lousy too.

Growuppeople · 28/05/2019 23:21

She may be no one but she’s got slot further than most people who want to be in that business. Never liked her, she has no talent but stop being bitchy cause you jealous 🤪

GabsAlot · 28/05/2019 23:23

here here @nearlythere1 she skirted on les dennis coattails and then sumped him when she got an acting job

dont know who id be more insulted by judging me

Lllot5 · 28/05/2019 23:37

If we stopped watching all this shit they’d stop making it. Grin

Sagradafamiliar · 28/05/2019 23:37

Oh I didn't know about her past pregnancies :( Maybe Ant and Dec literally making a song and dance announcing AD's pregnancy news might've knocked her a bit.

pitterpatterbaby · 28/05/2019 23:39

I still can't forgive her for breaking les dennis' heart AngryGrin

Hammondisback · 28/05/2019 23:39

I think she looks wonderful, though. Face and figure - beautiful.

Engol · 28/05/2019 23:39

I quiet like Amanda, she reminds me of myself. I often think women don't like other women on tv who aren't camera shy.

mabelsgarden · 28/05/2019 23:55

She is pretty, and has been quite good in some stuff, and isn't THAT bad on BGT. Maybe a bit dramatic, but then so is David! Simon is a bit 'meh' and Alicia is OK, but slightly annoying.

The show as a whole has had its day however. As a few posters have said, this is the worst year ever. Some of the acts are terrible. Even some of the acts that have been put through to the semi finals were bloody awful. The fart guy was a (not very funny) joke, and the acts are a mix of dreadful, naff, amateurs, and professionals who already have an agent, an equity card, and years of professional experience behind them.

When it started, there were genuinely talented, unknown acts who became famous and successful from the show (like with the old talent shows 'Opportunity Knocks' and 'New Faces.') But this past 2 or 3 years, it's lost it.

The Susan Boyle moment was amazing; a genuinely talented, raw talent, who was shy and awkward, but had a lovely, sweet voice, and the whole audition gave me goosebumps. They have tried to recreate that entire scenario a number of times, but it's never happened.

Same with Gareth Gates (though I know this was Pop Idol;) he had a stammer and was badly bullied at school, and when he came on TV, he could hardly speak, but had the voice of an angel when he sang. Again, they have tried to recreate this over and over (on X Factor and BGT,) with the forced and OTT 'sob stories' that they keep pushing. All most people think now is 'to hell with the sob story; can you SING?!'

So yeah, BGT and X factor need to be binned IMO. Big Brother and The Jeremy Kyle show have been axed (thankfully;) it's time for these shows to go now too.

Frittata · 29/05/2019 00:01

Maybe using the 'dead child' thing against Amanda was rather unkind. I don't remember the story now but she either had a stillbirth or late miscarriage.

Frittata · 29/05/2019 00:05

Just seen PP - she had a stillbirth and is being criticized for swearing at something triggering?

NCforthis2019 · 29/05/2019 00:06

She’s just someone who needs to stay In The limelight because newer, younger people are emerging so now and then she’ll wear next to nothing or throw a swear word after watershed. Same thing Katie Price does surely. What is she famous for - my she says she slept with someone or was married to someone famous?

BrendasUmbrella · 29/05/2019 00:16

Aren't they all a bit desperate? These Simon Cowell shows are so wrung out. Every year I'm surprised to see them back again.

gluteustothemaximus · 29/05/2019 00:36

Can't stand any of them. Stopped watching the show now. Used to enjoy it but fed up watching overpaid talentless judges judge.

1forAll74 · 29/05/2019 00:36

I like both Amanda and Alesha, they seem like good friends too. You have to have some glamour on these shows, but sometimes Amanda looks as though she is going to a big ball, and not just on a judging panel.but hey ho, whatever. I just don't like Mr Plastic , and vain Cowell !

OneHanded · 29/05/2019 01:02

Agree with you @Engol :: I’m on my mid twenties and my first dealings with Amanda was watching wild at heart which is what propelled her into the spotlight when BGT started. I don’t watch it now because frankly can’t stand anything like it but majority of posters here really just sound sour and bitter and like my mother which trust me NONE of you want.
