Desperately seeking root canal advice

My DS 10 needs a root canal on his front adult tooth following an injury earlier this year.

Obviously, I'm freaking out but not helped by the dentist who seems very worried (actually said 'Oh God' when she realised it was dead). The root canal is booked in for a week's time but I'm don't know whether to seek a second opinion or get a specialist referral.

Do paedriatric endodontists even exist? If so, can anyone recommend a Bristol one.

Please share any stories of adult tooth injury in children that ends well!

Don't fret. Root canal on a front tooth is relatively straight forward provided the root has finished growing. It should have by 10.

Could he be referred to Bristol Dental Hospital? They have Paediatric specialists there.

I had a root canal done on a front tooth. It took 3 sessions-first one they anaesthetised the tooth and drilled out the nerve (never felt a thing) Over the next 2 sessions they filled the tooth. I've had no trouble at all with it since.
