Now I confess I am a bit of a self improvement junkie so I have heard a lot of uplifting stories from people who have overcome horrific odds/catastrophic illness/a shocking upbringing/life in a war zone to make a stunning success of their lives. But AIBU to feel even more inadequate that someone with a relatively 'normal' life and all the usual stressors can't get their sh*t together? I mean FFS, if someone who has had one of their limbs amputated can rebound from the tragedy to have a glittering career as an international motivational speaker, why can't I just find a job that I really enjoy?! Am I the only one who rushes from one thing to another, never quite getting anything done properly or really well?
What stuff do you guys struggle with, are you all swanning around with well organised lives, using your strengths to cast joy around the community and never yelling at your kids? Are all your bills paid and your laundry put away Marie Kondo style?

You are normal. Very few people have their dream jobs and most of us have houses that do not look like they belong in a magazine. I have lovely, sweet natured, intelligent children and I still have to shout at them occassionally.

On another note: One of the girls I went to sixth form with went to cool parties in the big city 25 miles away already from when she was 15, was allowed to stay out all night both Friday and Saturday and her parents never shouted at her or critised her. Because they didn't care. They "stayed together for the children" while ignoring the children and got a divorce the second both children had left home. Better to have parent who actually care enough about you to bother shouting at you.
