So i have posted before about this - every time I'm on mumsnet and my sound is on all I keep hearing is "congratulations"

Now this has developed to my anti virus kicking in telling me there is a "deceptive site ahead" and I need to exit my browser

Then we had the data breach where people were able to view others profiles and use their accounts to post

MNHQ have never responded

Surely a site that has thousands of people posting very sensitive things (yes I know its 'anonymous' and 'you should never post things you would then feel uncomfortable about') BUT if people can get into your account easily and view your name, postcode and whatever else you have to provide to join mumsnet that's such a worry to me. Any views? I feel like mumsnet deals with a lot of sensitive data and material yet seems to be easily hacked - what is that "congratulations" thing anyway?!

Since I commented on this threat the site came back with vengeance and get even 4 per minute...

WoogleCone · 27/05/2019 19:37

I posted on a other similar thread earlier, its happening all the time now and driving me insane!!

DoNotDisturbPlease · 27/05/2019 19:39

Yep I've posted on the site stuff thread too. Mumsnet has been hacked people. Be careful.

Argh - went to find the link and took me so long to get back because the back button doesn't work properly (part of the same issue) that someone else has already posted.... Hmm

TheAverageJuror · 27/05/2019 19:41

Restart your phones. Seems to help.

darkriver19886 · 27/05/2019 19:41

Keep getting the warning. Its making mumsnet on my phone pretty unusable and I don't feel safe.

darkriver19886 · 27/05/2019 19:41

To keep using it on mobile.

newroundhere · 27/05/2019 19:42

I don't think it's hacked (although I'm no expert!), it seems more likely that MN's ad provider is serving ads from a dodgy provider, which is setting off the warnings in our browsers as it's a known phishing website.

Hopefuy I'm right as that's the least bad option....

TheAverageJuror · 27/05/2019 19:42

Spoke too soon. 5 since that last post🙄

LakieLady · 27/05/2019 19:45

*I haven't had it.

Laptop, using Google Chrome.*

Ditto.

Treaclesweet · 27/05/2019 19:47

It's basically unusable for me. I don't know another website like it for being so poor!
It really makes me quite cross as they must rake in advertising money but seemingly aren't prepared to spend on proper tech.

MulticolourMophead · 27/05/2019 19:47

I've not had any warnings, either on the phone or laptop. But I use 2 separate adblockers. I doubt it's a hacking, just a dodgy ad.

TheAverageJuror · 27/05/2019 19:48

I think it's these.

badlydrawnperson · 27/05/2019 19:53

Mumsnet’s approach to cyber security has always been very lax imho.

22Giraffes · 27/05/2019 19:53

I'm also having the same issue, since yesterday. Big red warning page directing me back to safety, and pop ups telling me I've won a Samsung phone Hmm

feelingverylazytoday · 27/05/2019 19:55

I've been getting it on other sites but not mumsnet.

Sparrowlegs248 · 27/05/2019 19:56

I'm getting the voice saying "congratulations" but no ad or pop up.

HeadsDownThumbsUpEveryone · 27/05/2019 19:57

I've been getting it on other sites but not mumsnet.

Even if you are not getting it on MN surely MN is the common denominator for people seeing the red warning and congratulations message? It seems unlikely that it has come from using another website, chances are it is because you have used MN that you are seeing it.

bevelino · 27/05/2019 20:09

I downloaded AdGuard for free and it has completely blocked all the pop up ads.

SisyphusDad · 27/05/2019 20:30

The problem is with ads, not with MumsNet itself. I've been having the same problem with the Guardian, and it seems to be more of a problem on phones than PCs. You can stop it happening by disabling Javascript in your browser.

It seemed to start late on Friday and my bet is that the baddies chose the time on the basis that there would be fewer tech support people around over a bank holiday weekend to block it.

Dotis · 27/05/2019 21:39

I'm getting this too. My husband says it's a virus and to get off site Shock

MakeLemonade · 27/05/2019 21:41

Agree the MNHQ response is just not good enough, they’re a proper business and should be able to communicate effectively in these situations and reassure users. We are the ‘product’ after all.

SnowyAlpsandPeaks · 27/05/2019 22:29

I’ve been getting it since last night, red screen warning me about clicking on the site. Also got it on the Mirror website.

How do we stop it???

BitsOfYellowFallingOff · 27/05/2019 22:33

Glad I found this thread. I've been getting the pop ups in chrome and the voice saying congratulations. Using the app on an android phone. It's getting a bit annoying!

TheAverageJuror · 27/05/2019 22:34

Wgen I turned Java off it really went away. But some features on chrome didn't work. Turned it back on now nad so far it's ok🤞
