AIBU to think that Chertsey is not that brilliant?

Stuck here for the day while DC at Thorpe Park. Chertsey seems to me dreary and unappealing. Only brightened up by presence of Aldi and Sainsbury's

Did anyone say chertsey was that great?

You probably should have headed to Staines if you wanted shopping. Or Virginia water for a lovely walk.

I will know for next time!

I only ever hear Chertsey on the traffic news! It always seems to be congested.

It's never been particularly brilliant. However, it has it's uses, i.e. Sainsburys and Aldi. So, you've seen the highlights !

UkraineQueen · 27/05/2019 15:25

I miss the cows on the roof.

DonkeyHohtay · 27/05/2019 15:38

Why didn't you just go to Thorpe Park?

Far2go46 · 27/05/2019 15:42

Well, it is in Surrey

mostlydrinkstea · 27/05/2019 15:44

Kingston is closeish and the shopping is excellent.

UkraineQueen · 27/05/2019 15:49

This. I actually googled it once because I’d heard it so much on the traffic news but didn’t know where it was.

Chertsey is just a SW London suburb - it's not really a place in its own right.

There's also not much to see in Worcester Park, Thames Ditton, Cheam, or any of those places. Kingston, Richmond, Epsom at a push (I'd struggle to fill a whole day there). Hampton Court Palace, or Thames Path if you want an actual activity/tourist attraction.

TheLastNigel · 27/05/2019 16:13

Pop song to sunburn on Thames instead-it's quite picturesque-or go to Hampton court...

GarthFunkel · 27/05/2019 16:15

Perhaps if you showed it some respect and called it Chertsey-on-Thames you'd feel better about it?

Twickerhun · 27/05/2019 16:18

It’s close to some lovely places. That’s it’s only redeeming feature

Lonecatwithkitten · 27/05/2019 16:22

Go to RHS Wisley while the teens scream at Thorpe Park is my preferred solution.
