Baby name other ideas help.... what the husband wants....

Hi baby is due tomorrow and struggling with names terribly ...it is a girl....

I’ve posted a couple of times over the last couple of days, and suggestions have been helpful and lovely but husband is a firm no to all my names.....

We have it down to Ivy Florence, Esme-Eve Esme Florence, Evie-Florence.... I also love Amelie Eve (but he is firmly against this)

Any help on these... they seem quite popular names to me, I have an Isabel and Ruby already and when I named them didn’t know any and now they have common names.

Would prefer to have this one a little more individual, the name Rose, and Sophia are out of bounds as these are middle names for my girls.

Any help appreciated.

Elodie Jane is nice

FizzyGreenWater · 27/05/2019 14:06

Elodie Joy

Elodie Willow

Elodie Eve

SummerWhisper · 27/05/2019 14:20

I think these work with either Elodie or its shorter form Ellie:

Fleur
Fern
Beau
Freda / Freddie
Martha
Maisie
Garcia
Leonora
Estella
Evetta
Loretta
Agnes
Nancy
Talia
Violet

They are also nice first names.

BumandChips · 27/05/2019 15:03

Eleni?

1Willow23 · 27/05/2019 15:22

What about Everly I haven't hear it before? What could this be shortened to? Would Evie work with this? Maybe Everly Iris? Any suggestions on middle names?

Why not try Martha ?

thatmustbenigelwiththebrie · 27/05/2019 15:30

Esme is awful. Sorry. I just really don't like the way it sounds.

SnowyAlpsandPeaks · 27/05/2019 15:38

Esme, Eve, Ivy, Amelia, Iris, Florence and Evei, are all becoming really common names now. They are like the old Sarah, Emma, Rebecca and Louise as a middle name. So as long as you don’t mind that!
We are over run with them here.

I love Esme, I wanted it for ds14 if he was a girl, knew none then, know 9 now lol, and that’s just where I live.

Please don’t hyphen, it makes the name babyish, not great for when she’s older.

Everly, is different. It’s a marmite name.

Others names:-

Willow (which you’ve mentioned)
Savannah
Rae
Eden (love this)
Skyler
Scarlett
Hazel
Violet

NeverPutAWetFootInABirkenstock · 27/05/2019 15:44

Esme Iris
Iris Joy
Elodie Thea
Eloise Grace

FizzyGreenWater · 27/05/2019 15:45

But Everly just isn't a nice sound at all OP. The Everly Brothers?! Also, she would be Ev or Evs or Evvie for short - hmm.

Don't fall into the trap of trying to find 'something like' the name you actually don't really want in order to cover all the bases - that never works!

Eva, Eve, Evie are OUT.

Start afresh with a shortlist of the many lovely names suggested on here.

Darkstar4855 · 27/05/2019 15:48

Emmie?

Agree don’t hyphen.

Have you posted about this already? It seems very familiar.

Darkstar4855 · 27/05/2019 15:48

*hyphenate

luckygreeneyes · 27/05/2019 15:55

I’ve a toddler and all the names you’ve suggested are really popular right now. All nice enough names but if you want something less common I’d rethink. I’d definitely drop the hyphens.

My girls ‘short’list included:

Martha
Mathilda
Elena
Elinor
Flora
Hebe
Esther
Sylvie
Margot
Nina
Clara

luckygreeneyes · 27/05/2019 15:56

I also quite like Liberty (Libby) and Juliet now

SuePerbly · 27/05/2019 16:03

I liked names ending in ie/y too. So we went with Emilia and use Emmie on a day to day basis. Could that be an option?

dottiedodah · 27/05/2019 16:04

I like Alice ,and Aoife is nice (not quite sure of how to pronounce it though!(Eefa maybe?).Maybe bit too similar to Ava,Always liked Phoebe dont know how popular that is though

Dobinette · 27/05/2019 16:10

How about Indigo, nn Indy?

LeeMiller · 27/05/2019 16:30

Emmeline/Emilia - Emmie
Evangeline or Evelyn - Eva/Evie
Dorothea/Dorothy - Dottie/Thea
Charlotte - Lottie
Matilda -Tilly

Hopeygoflightly · 27/05/2019 16:37

Don't double barrell the 2 first names I think, but go with what YOU like. None of those are unusual where we are, we're tripping over them at school.

Hopeygoflightly · 27/05/2019 16:38

Aoife is Irish and pronounced -eefa - and I don't know a single bad one, seriously, must be the name. But it's so Irish I find it weird when people with none Irish links use it...

StillCoughingandLaughing · 27/05/2019 16:50

Fucking hell how superior can you get? Do you like looking down your nose at people because it actually makes you look very small.

It’s merely an opinion. This is a discussion site.

Whoops75 · 27/05/2019 17:01

Not a fan of Elodie/Everly

Like Emmie the best

AWanderingMinstrel · 27/05/2019 17:09

Popular name when I was young was Carol, Carolyn and Caroline (Caro for short). I think I read that last year not one child in the UK called by that name so if you want something unusual do that?
Friends have named their girls :
Alexandra
Helena
Saskia
Sabrina
Femke
Lauren
Mila
Lotte
Anouk

SummerWhisper · 27/05/2019 17:11

Minerva (or Minnie for short) is not common

MrsElizabethShelby · 27/05/2019 17:34

I thought Amelie/Amelia was because of Amy Pond in Dr Who.
