If the swelling/redness hasn't improved by the morning then I would try to see a GP/nurse practitioner

Do you have a walk-in-centre near you?

Haggisfish · 26/05/2019 21:21

I’d take an antihistamine and draw round red area with pen, and possibly call 111.

Wasywasydoodah · 26/05/2019 21:21

You could try an antihistamine.

TurboTeddy · 26/05/2019 21:21

Ice, elevate, antihistamines and review in the morning. Seek advice if the swelling causes circulatory or nerve symptoms, cold feet, pins and needles etc or if you start to feel unwell and the infected area looks inflamed.

Daisydo48 · 26/05/2019 21:21

Have an antihistamine it should hopefully take swelling down. If no better tomorrow see a DR

Kingslayer · 26/05/2019 21:22

It's not really red, just the whole foot/ankle is swollen and tende

Antihistamine is on the way

It bloody is red! If it looks shiny and red, def call 111 in case it’s cellulitis. Also if you feel feverish, unwell etc.

fraumaximoo · 26/05/2019 21:32

Is it definitely gnat bites? I was bitten by a spider and couldn't walk a week later due to the swelling. It was only a zebra spider. Apparently I'm allergic to spider venom. I had to have a course of very strong antibiotics.

comedycentral · 26/05/2019 21:34

Call the NHS helpline for advice.

comedycentral · 26/05/2019 21:35

Sorry posted too soon, I hope it goes down soon too.

Mascarponeandwine · 26/05/2019 21:36

I’d definitely go to A&E, if it’s cellulitis you need antibiotics.

Kingslayer · 26/05/2019 21:38

Thanks, yea definitely a gnat, I saw the fucker bit me last night. But it was 24 hrs ago so a long time for allergic reaction surely?!

Ah well, hopefully it's gone by morning

TheSingingTowers · 26/05/2019 21:50

Definitely get checked out as soon as possible in case it’s cellulitis, as that’s nast, especially if you develop a temperature or feel unwell.

TheSingingTowers · 26/05/2019 21:51

That should say that can be nasty

Tinkobell · 26/05/2019 21:53

Allergy to mosquitoes here....the whole thing swells up, like a whole section of limb with no scratching. Anti histamines and some ice packing always sort it.

Kingslayer · 26/05/2019 22:05

I don't think it's cellulitis as I've had that before. It's not really red, just swollen!

OP posts:
Haggisfish · 27/05/2019 19:42

How’s the foot op? Hope it’s gone down

fedup21 · 27/05/2019 19:46

I get this every time I’m bitten.

Take Piriton, keep it cold and keep an eye on the swelling.

Youwanapizzame · 27/05/2019 20:02

Crikey its made your trouser leg change colour!!!

Hope you're feeling better today

CustardOmlet · 27/05/2019 20:16

My DH has just shown me his post bite cellulitis, he’s off to the GP tomorrow. Elevate, keep it cool and take an antihistamine.
