Not just for the
LOLz....

I don't!

Moorcroft · 26/05/2019 12:26

I don’t vote Conservative, but Rory Stewart seems the best of a bad bunch.

clairemcnam · 26/05/2019 12:27

I too suspect that he is a psychopath.

AlexaShutUp · 26/05/2019 12:28

No, of course I don't want him as PM. He has no principles and no conscience.

My only hope, if we do end up in this horrible situation, is that he'll turn his back on Brexit and decide to remain when he realises that it may be more politically expedient to do so. Although he backed leave in the referendum, I don't think he really believes in it. The only thing Boris cares about is Boris.

So we must hope that Boris reaches the conclusion that Brexit will be bad for Boris, and he will then have no qualms at all about doing a complete about-turn and abandoning the whole sorry saga.

LarryGreysonsDoor · 26/05/2019 12:28

Not at all.

Please don’t buy into this idea that he is some kind of lovable buffoon. This persona is very carefully crafted to make people think he is a man of the people, a regular guy.
He is far from it.

Izzabellasasperella · 26/05/2019 12:29

Duplicitous, morally bankrupt, selfish, self serving, cronyism loving twat.

This with bells on.

Laiste · 26/05/2019 12:29

D'y'know what? They all do a shite job in the end and to be honest at the very least it'll be more entertaining to watch an openly comedic weirdo fuck the country up than to watch the usual sour faced 'intellectual' type do it.

Ginmel · 26/05/2019 12:31

Another vote for Rory Stewart here

AlexaShutUp · 26/05/2019 12:31

Rory Stewart is a decent man and I'd be very pleased if they picked him, but sadly, I don't think he stands a chance in hell of getting elected as Tory leader.

Japonicaflower2 · 26/05/2019 12:35

He's on par with Trump; dishonest, misogynistic, self-serving and a first class oaf.
Corbyn's no better, I really can't think of anyone I would vote for.

Fudgenugget · 26/05/2019 12:36

Boris was my local mayor once. He was an embarrassment.

ControversialFerret · 26/05/2019 12:42

God could you imagine Sarah Vine's smug column if Gove won?

If I was voting Tory I'd be supporting Rory Stewart. But I suspect that his very reasonable approach will be the reason why he won't get anywhere.

AlexaShutUp · 26/05/2019 12:43

Exactly. It's the Tory party who get to choose the next leader, rather than reasonable, rational people. Stewart doesn't stand a chance.

cardibach · 26/05/2019 12:49

To be fair bj reminds me somewhat of trump and although trump hasn’t been fabulous he’s not been as catastrophic as almost though
Orchidflower I absolutely can’t believe you really think this! Trump is an absolute disaster, especially for women. Children have died as a result of his border policy. Never mind the fact that he has almost certainly been breaking the law. Jesus Christ!

JohnnyMcGrathSaysFuckOff · 26/05/2019 12:51

Oh I forgot to add, also v popular with the ladies and a fine upstanding journalist.

And did I mention the hair?

Tartyflette · 26/05/2019 12:53

I wouldn't like to see BoJo as PM, ever, but part of me wonders how the hell he would cope with the shitshow that is Brexit.
I think he is superficially clever and can talk the talk but he's not a details man (see the Nazanin-Ratcliffe fuckup, entirely down to Boris) nor has he the focus and determination to see Brexit through.
In fact I don't believe he is personally committed to Brexit at all, as others have said, it was only ever about him and his ambition to become PM.
I sort of agree with the poster up thread who said he may not be as bad as we fear. With any luck, as he realises he's now in charge of untangling the Brexit Gordian knot, the easiest thing (and he likes an easy life) would be to revoke article 50, reset the clock, go back to the drawing board and reopen talks with the Commission. I live in hope.

clairemcnam · 26/05/2019 13:02

If he is not as bad as we fear, it will only be because he is lazy and will leave a lot of the actual work to someone else.

Normaknowall · 26/05/2019 13:18

God, no.

Possibly Rory Stewart, because we haven't heard that much about him yet so the true awfulness hasn't emerged. But comments sounded vaguely reasonable (by Tory standards) re Boris and Brexit.

Figgygal · 26/05/2019 13:20

Never in a million years
He's one of the architects of the bloody mess we find ourselves in
Bumbling twat

Sarcelle · 26/05/2019 13:22

He is an arrogant, entitled old Etonian who thinks he is a modern day Churchill. He looks a mess (which is somewhat contrived), is gaffe prone, says offensive things, is in it for himself, a philanderer, a backstabber and a turncoat.

I dread the thought of him being PM.

Arlenia · 26/05/2019 13:25

No way. His fumbling of the Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe case should be disqualifying, and would be if the world still made any sense.

Having said that, I'd still rather have him than bloody Esther McVey.

Bluntness100 · 26/05/2019 13:25

No, and I actually don't think Gove is any better. I used to be a Boris fab, until I realised he is duplicitous and self serving and does what is best for Boris, not what is best for the country.

Say what you will about Teresa May but the bottom line is she has more capability and personal integrity in her little finger than Corbyn, Gove, and Boris all together. And don't get me started on the self serving loathsome leadsom.

As much as teresa May needed to go, she was still the best of a very bad bunch, by a long way,

It really is a shameful time in British politics. We really are fucked.

Tiscold · 26/05/2019 13:26

@AnnaMagnani, agreed even though i did spell his name wrong haha

Arlenia · 26/05/2019 13:26

Out of the declared candidates, the only ones I would be relieved about (definitely not pleased) are Rory Stewart and (can't believe I'm saying this) Michael Gove or Jeremy Hunt.

Boris Johnson, Esther McVey and Dominic Raab would all destroy this country.

TVname · 26/05/2019 13:27

Definitely not. Not a fan of any of them but am really hoping he'll have been knocked out of the running before it gets to party membership.
