AIBU taken for granted

A colleague needed to take today off at very short notice. She had a large workload so was initially refused. I offered to help out and came in early, worked through lunch and hence cleared it. When she checked in shortly before end of day i enquired how her day had gone and told her I had cleared her workload. I thought this would give her peace of mind and she could now not worry and enjoy long weekend. My AIBU is 6 hours later I've had no response. I don't expect her to be on hands and knees in gratitude but a simple thanks would do. Am I AIBU?

If she had to take the day off, then perhaps she's still tied up.

I personally leave work stuff for working hours. Surely it's soon enough if she says thank you on Monday?

No she was finished with what she had to do by lunchtime. She emailed in to say how it had gone (not medical emergency or suchlike)

YANBU. You thank someone when they do you a favour and it sounds like you really went out of her way. If whatever she was doing was emotional or stressful I'd definitely give her the benefit of the doubt but if she was just getting her car fixed or something then she has no excuse not to acknowledge your hard work on her behalf.

I would continue to be a nice person in general but not go out of my way for that colleague again.

Thank you crisps. As I said, don't want everlasting gratitude but a simple "thanks bebes" and it was not any sort of an emergency and she's checked in plenty but not mentioned it. Now I need to breathe, let go and enjoy the weekend Wine

But if she emailed in at the end of the day, then she may not have checked her emails again, as the work day was finished...?
