Self appointed experts.... Eurovision

OK so first timer and full disclosure... I know I'm being unreasonable...

Every year we as a family sit and watch the Eurovision song contest and enjoy the spectacular for all its silliness. This year however I've found myself unnecessarily preoccupied STILL with the result of the UK coming last. It rancled that there were songs that were obviously worse than ours and the general political unfairness of it all.

So my main point here links off from this. I mentioned this at work and then got absolutely ambushed by the "expert" who preceeded to tell me how we were never going to win because Eurovision songs in C minor always lose.... Literally 30 minutes of unsolicited analysis from this guy. However it subsequently turns out that this expert simply read all this info on buzz feed or something and this gave him a platform on which to present himself as an expert on the whole subject.

So I know I'm being unreasonable but this happens so often... Someone will read an article on something and then amazingly believe that they are an authority on the subject and subsequently start ramming it down your throat at any opportunity. I'm all for decent conversation and sharing its just the almost self righteousness that accompanies it that gets me....

Anyway....that felt cathartic so thanks :)

I think I read the same article and it did sound very persuasive.

Although I do think the other countries hate us as well

Couldn’t care less about Eurovision but it drives me crazy when people present something they’ve read online as if they’ve deeply researched a subject and these are the facts. Firstly, the internet is full of shit and secondly, half the time they’ve misread the article and recreate the information from scratch. I used to argue and prove people were talking shite but they didn’t like that. So now I just say “oh that’s interesting” while silently cursing their bullshit.
