To not want to put up with colleague being a dick just because he’s hungry

He’s a consultant so I don’t really have a choice. But my head off twice today, stomping around, banging shit on his desk like a toddler.

He’s fasting so clearly fucking hungry and not smoking either. My sympathy ran out by 11am tbh. Dreading tomorrow

AIBU to tell him to take his bad mood elsewhere!

(In fairness he is usually a really nice guy, I just can’t stand adults sulking like kids)

Argh, work from home???!

BogglesGoggles · 23/05/2019 20:59

The whole point of fasting is to punish yourself not others. Tell him to man up.

BogglesGoggles · 23/05/2019 20:59

Sorry, I just realised that you may have meant as a diet as opposed to Ramadan.

VanillaCoconutDove · 23/05/2019 20:59

Fasting for personal or religious reasons?

BogglesGoggles · 23/05/2019 21:00

Even so, it’s not fair to take on diets which result in this kind of behaviour either.

ArgyMargy · 23/05/2019 21:01

It might not be anything to do with fasting. YABU.

Dontbeadickkkkk · 23/05/2019 21:01

Ramadan!

Not really an excuse, there’s loads of Muslims on our unit. All except two are fasting. They aren’t acting like him!

Ask him if he's ok, with classic Mumsnet tilted head...he's clearly not...

Longdistance · 23/05/2019 21:03

If he’s a consultant he needs to give his head a wobble before he puts his patients in danger, never mind pissing his colleagues off. If you get on well usually, perhaps you need to bring him down to earth as to why he’s fasting.

MsTSwift · 23/05/2019 21:05

Not sure I would want to be operated on by someone who was fasting. I keel over if I don’t eat

Babysharkdododont · 23/05/2019 21:30

I bloody hate when Ramadan is in summer months, I feel so sorry for the people who fast, and those who work with them!

SirGawain · 23/05/2019 21:33

Two of my colleagues are also fasting but they seem to cope fairly well.
one even gave me a large box of dates this morning.

Hoppinggreen · 23/05/2019 21:34

Apparently during Ramadan you are supposed to do charitable deeds and think charitable thoughts as well ( and not swear on Fortnite according to Ds’s friend)
Being a grumpy git isn’t in the spirit of it from what I can gather, however, if I do t eat I’m vile so I wouldn’t judge!

Cherrysoup · 23/05/2019 21:34

Just tell him. There’s no need for his behaviour. He’s an adult, presumably he’s done this many times. Why should you be catching his silly behaviour? He doesn’t need to be banging stuff on his desk.

CupoTeap · 23/05/2019 21:36

It will be the not smoking...
