Slightly anemic

Went to get results from GP today from a blood test a couple of weeks ago. Everything fine except slightly anemic apparently. I have no symptoms of anything in particular (had gone in with random skin complaint and because I hardly ever go she suggested bloods as well). Have now been told to do another blood test in three weeks or so - this one is checking iron, iron binding levels and ferritin because of unclear cause of slight low iron. Skin complaint nothing to worry about but doctor was a bit beady eyed and kept asking for family history of bowel and breast cancer (none), dismissed my sister having had anemia on and off as irrelevant. Suddenly feel like a time bomb. Any words of wisdom? Doom? Don't mention eating more iron in my diet, she told me not to so the results don't get skewed.
