Read their manifestos? What the heck for...they all do exactly as they please once voted in, regardless of what they 'promised' in their manifesto.

AtSea1979 · 23/05/2019 08:53

I don’t know anything about this vote I don’t think I have a card

The only reason to read the manifestos is to realise that the Brexit Party doesn't have one. Their only promise is to get the UK out of the EU, for which they have no power as that is decided by the UK government not MEPs who are involved in politics in the EU except on Brexit!

The whole decision seems to just be a pro/anti Brexit argument and ignoring what the EU actually does. As one party says, the government has said that we will follow EU law closely when we leave so isn't it better to get involved and shape that now rather than just go and rant about leave/remain.

It is the European Parliament elections where we vote for which MEPs will represent us in the EU parliament.

We have to have the election, even if we leave, as it is part of the EU constitution and it could invalid decisions in the EU if not done properly by all member countries.

However, Brexit Party particularly are using it as a second referendum, even though leave/remain is not the option and you are voting for which party you want to work within the EU and decide on law and policy matters on our behalf to get the best for us (absolutely nothing to do with Brexit which is handled by the GB government not by MEPs).

AbsoluteGonk · 23/05/2019 09:01

What’s the vote about today?

EU directive to force us to drive on wrong side of the road like them. If you are against this then vote LibDem or Green or ChangeUK

AbsoluteGonk · 23/05/2019 09:03

Arthur Scargill was elected president for life of the NUM by 51% of the 1% who bothered to vote

Utter, utter bollocks.

kalopali · 23/05/2019 11:27

However, Brexit Party particularly are using it as a second referendum

I think a lot a voters are seeing it as such as well though and using it as an opportunity to show their support for either leave or remain. I’d guess this result will be indicative of the result of a second referendum if that were to happen.

badlydrawnperson · 23/05/2019 11:34

or that you have rights at work so your employee can’t sack you for no reason,

That right doesn't arise from EU and has nothing to do with the EU HTH.

UnicornBrexit · 23/05/2019 11:38

I find it quite patronising to be chivvied along , like none of us know whats going on in the country. We also have a CHOICE whether to vote, or not as the case may be. It isnt compulsory.

This is just another of those ridiculous threads that attempt to brainwash people in to voting how the OP thinks they shoule eg 'avoid one issue parties'

HelloMonday · 23/05/2019 12:43

Thank you for reminding me to pop my X in the Brexit Party box, will do it after school run

HelloMonday · 23/05/2019 12:44

'avoid one issue parties

Well, people should avoid one issue parties! Surely that's just logical?

Postal vote here - Lib Dem

AngelicInnocent · 23/05/2019 14:48

As was mentioned on a previous thread, don't criticise people for voting for 1 issue parties when remain voters are using a website to tell them what to vote because of 1 issue!

hellooosweetheart · 23/05/2019 15:13

Posted my vote in last week. Feeling a bit smug that I will miss the queues but a bit sad that I might miss some milkshake throwing Grin
