Hello
Can you please help settle a debate, do / did you support or prep your child for their year 2 sats?
Thanks

Do you mean practice papers at home etc? If so, no, I didn't

Coulddowithanap · 21/05/2019 18:10

Nothing at all.

Everythingmagnolia · 21/05/2019 18:10

No

arethereanyleftatall · 21/05/2019 18:10

No. The children don't even know they're doing it at our school. I don't know what it involved, neither did they. Just an ordinary week at school.

Worlds0kayestmum · 21/05/2019 18:10

No, they are just a government box ticking exercise, beyond the normal reading at home and spelling practice we did nothing for them.

Coulddowithanap · 21/05/2019 18:11

Obviously I would support my child if needed but he didn't even know sats were taking place.

milkshak3 · 21/05/2019 18:12

I supported my child last year by doing nothing, wasn't allowed practice, wasn't allowed to stay longer in school for extra tution. NADA! I really cannot get my head around doing it otherwise! It's for the government, nobody else.

dirtystinkyrats · 21/05/2019 18:14

No, we also weren't allowed to use the words 'test' 'exams' or 'SATS'. I thought that was the best way.

knackeredmumoftwo · 21/05/2019 18:15

Thank you :) that's helpful

Aside from the usual homework, there was definitely no extra practice etc. I wouldn't put that on a 7yo.

PinguForPresident · 21/05/2019 18:16

My son had weekly homework that was clearly geared towards SATS, and list of words to learn. We did that with him.

But test papers or anything like that? Hell, no! He's 7!

Feenie · 21/05/2019 18:42

Why would you, when the evidence for your dc' s teacher assessment comes mainly from books? Too late now!

PantsyMcPantsface · 21/05/2019 18:46

Kids didn't even hear the term SATs... They did some special workbooks they enjoyed and that was that

SunshineMuffin · 21/05/2019 18:47

My daughter had sats papers aent home months before the SATs and the children were told about the SATs.

OKBobble · 21/05/2019 19:01

No

KneelJustKneel · 21/05/2019 19:04

Thats really sad Sunshine :( (assuming you're talking about year 2 sats? Pretty much everywhere year 6 is a write off and sats focussed but at least they're older.)
