Anyone else fed up TTC?

Been TTC for 10 months now (not that long I know) but feeling very fed up and frustrated. Looking for other people to talk to who are in the same boat. I am 25 and have no known fertility problems and a regular cycle.

OP posts:
Liverbird77 · 21/05/2019 12:38

It took is eight months, and I was starting to get frustrated and nervous...I was 40 when I got pregnant so it was by no means guaranteed.
I found the Ovia app to be helpful in tracking periods, fertile time and when you have sex each month.

DoneLikeAKipper · 21/05/2019 12:55

TTC is blooming stressful, and that doesn’t help matters! Were you on contraception that might have delayed you ability to conceive? For example, the injection can mean that fertility can take up to a year to return. Also, many couples concentrate on what they consider ‘typical’ times to try (mid cycle), but some women (hello Grin) sometimes ovulate really early or late even if their periods are a normal 28-32 days run.

HoneyB12 · 21/05/2019 13:20

Thank you for your reply. I’ve got the Natural Cycles App which helps. I guess we’ve just been just unlucky so far

HoneyB12 · 21/05/2019 13:24

DoneLikeAKipper I stopped taking the pill in September 2017 so I don’t think it’s that unfortunately. And we’ve been trying to have regular sex all through the cycle even towards the later days just in case. I think maybe I’m just focusing on it too much and stressing myself out. I’ve got a stressful job too which probably doesn’t help.

Isntthatalwaystheway · 21/05/2019 13:54

Yes! Really fed up here, we're on our 9th cycle - First day of the two week wait today! I'm a little older than you but have no fertility or health issues that I'm aware of, been to the the doctors for all kind of checks but everything came back fine with the advice of 'Just be patient' 😫

Mrsboombastic99 · 21/05/2019 14:08

I turned 30 last week and my DH and I have been ttc baby #1 for 2.5 years. It's been so draining emotionally. I think it's the fear of the unknown that I find hardest. I wouldn't worry too much yet though, maybe visit your doctor for some routine bloods etc.. Big hugs xx

showmethegin · 21/05/2019 14:24

Yes, me!

AF arrived on Sunday and I stupidly got my hopes up as id had what really looked like implantation bleeding. Totally fed up and feel like it's never going to happen. If I'd have got pregnant first cycle I'd be due in June, and I'm still not even pregnant!!

Frustrating

Bouncingbelle · 21/05/2019 14:41

Not now, but it took me 8 years to concieve DS and i was utterly fed up by the end!
My only tip is reflexology and/or listening to meditation on youtube. Its so relaxing and im convinced this is what helped me relax enough to actually get pregnant as it can become so stressful (and im really not normally the hippy dippy type).
My DS could not be more perfect for us if he tried - sleeps great, is so good natured etc. We just tell ourselves now we had to wait so long cos we were waiting for a good one!
Good luck.

HoneyB12 · 21/05/2019 15:13

@Isntthatalwaystheway The two week wait is always the worst. I'm so impatient which really doesn't help. The worst bit is when you think every PMS symptom is an early pregnancy symptom. I'm currently on cycle day 2 so feeling a bit low. Wish you the best of luck this cycle.

HoneyB12 · 21/05/2019 15:15

@Mrsboombastic99 Aww bless you, that is a long time! Hope you are successful soon! Thank you for your message :) xx

HoneyB12 · 21/05/2019 15:16

@Bouncingbelle Thank you for your kind words. This gives me hope. I've recently started meditating daily so hopefully this will help reduce my stress.

HoneyB12 · 21/05/2019 15:18

@showmethegin I feel your pain. Sounds like we started our TTC journey at a similar time. Fingers crossed we both get some better luck soon!

Isntthatalwaystheway · 21/05/2019 15:20

@HoneyB12 Aw it's hard to not feel low isn't it? Sending you a virtual hug and positive vibes ✨ But I'm the same with symptom spotting, spent a small fortune on early response tests since ttc so I'm going to try hold out this month!

HoneyB12 · 21/05/2019 15:25

@Isntthatalwaystheway Yeah all the tests cost a fortune. The most frustrating one is the OPK tests- so bored of doing those. Are you using any apps to help? I'm using natural cycles but undecided if that's causing me more stress as it only tells you your ovulation day after it's occurred.

Isntthatalwaystheway · 21/05/2019 15:33

I wasn't a fan of the internet cheapys, I could never quite figure them out but since buying the one step ovulation test I've found it really good. I use the Flo app to track my periods and symptoms but find that the predicted ovulation date is way off what the OPK tests say!

HoneyB12 · 21/05/2019 15:56

@Isntthatalwaystheway Yeah that is the difficult bit knowing which test or app to rely on - especially when they're all saying different things. I suppose as long we are doing all the right things it's just a matter of time :)

BarberellaWife · 21/05/2019 16:29

It took us 15 months to conceive - I am currently pregnant.

It was really hard going so I completely sympathise. I ended up on anti-depressants at the time, it was such a dark place.

I went and saw the doctor after around 11 months or so and she was great, referred me straight to fertility to do some testing. Luckily everything came back fine but I'm glad we went and done it.

I hope you get some good luck soon xx

Ilikeyourbeard · 21/05/2019 16:37

Yip, been at it almost 2.5 years now. We used condoms for 2 years before that so no contraception issues.

Have DD4.5, and I had major abdo surgery when she was 8 weeks old so I think I’m onto plums. We’re going on holiday in July and will make an appointment to see the doc when we come back if we’ve had no luck by then.

HoneyB12 · 21/05/2019 16:45

@BarberellaWife Thank you for your message that's really reassuring. We are planning on going to the doctors if we are not successful after 1 year of trying so in two months time. As we are quite young I don't want to get laughed out the door if we go before then as that's the NHS advice to go after 1 year. Wishing you all the best in your pregnancy :)

Sallyseagull · 21/05/2019 16:47

I took 11 months to conceive my son. I'm sure because I let go a bit and stopped being so militant that that's why I fell pregnant. If I go on to have a second I definitely won't be tracking cycles and stressing like I did with my first as it got me nowhere when I did that.

Good luck!

HoneyB12 · 21/05/2019 16:48

@Ilikeyourbeard Hoping you have some better luck soon. It's frustrating isn't it. We've just got back from our holiday and were hoping the relaxing time would help with TTC unfortunately not for us tho.

HoneyB12 · 21/05/2019 16:50

@Sallyseagull I starting to think getting rid of the apps and trying to be more laid back about the whole process might be the way forward. But it's going to be hard to let go of the little control I feel I do have left. Thank you for your message tho :)

LorelaiRoryEmily · 21/05/2019 16:55

We’re on month 11 here. I’m so fed up with it. I was 8 days late last month and so hopeful. It took 2 years and 7 months for us to conceive ds who is now 3 and I’m starting to feel it’ll never happen again.

Fiveredbricks · 21/05/2019 17:00

😂 ten months... We were TTC for almost 14yrs. Ten months is a piss in the wind for most ttc tbh.

Ilikeyourbeard · 21/05/2019 17:12

I use the Ovia app so tend to dtd a couple of times during that at least, although we aren’t getting stressed out about it really. If it doesn’t happen, it doesn’t happen. We still have lots of sex randomly whenever we feel like too
