To shave my beard

Aprillygirl · 21/05/2019 08:19

by beard I actually mean my one annoying twat of a chin hair. I often now just opt for the quick painless route to defuzz and take a razor to it rather than having to put on my glasses, hunt the bugger down and wincingly pluck the fucker. My daughter is always telling me off warning it will grow back thick, but I've done it a few times now and haven't noticed it growing back in any thicker thus far. Any other shavers out there or are you all waxing, plucking or Nair using kinda gals?

I get my face dermabladed which is basically a fancy word for shaving, so yes! Do it. The hair growing back thicker and denser is a myth btw.

I epilate my moustache! It's painful but lasts for ages

SerenDippitty · 21/05/2019 08:23

I’m a shaver. I really find it the quickest and easiest way. The hair(s) don’t grow back any thicker for me either.

marvellousnightforamooncup · 21/05/2019 08:23

I do, why not?

femidom12 · 21/05/2019 08:24

Are beards no longer on trend?

Fiveredbricks · 21/05/2019 08:27

I started thyroid meds a few weeks ago and my chinhair has now come backfull force 😭 instead of 3 or 4 I now have about 12 of the buggers!

But I guess that means it's working? 🤷

Aprillygirl · 21/05/2019 08:38

I was going to get with it and let mine grow femidom12 but then I read about all the bacteria that beards harbour and hygiene won the day over style on this occasion.

@Aprillygirl I can confirm the bacteria. My husband has a huge beard and it's constantly full of crumbs!

Ohyesiam · 21/05/2019 08:45

Two of my chin hairs are from a tiny mole, meaning I can’t pluck them, so it’s easier to shave the lot. I’ve been doing it 20 years , it’s no thicker and nobody knows.

I do wonder what would happen if I was n a coma in hospital though.....

Aprillygirl · 21/05/2019 08:57

I had visions of the nurses tripping over your vastly overgrown chin hairs when coming to attend to you Ohyesiam lol.

@Jessie9323 sorry but bolk Envy

I use hair removal cream and pluck out thicker ones

Likethebattle · 21/05/2019 09:01

It’s awful being hairy as a woman, it’s ok for men to wander about not worrying!

Jennbot · 21/05/2019 09:16

I've been a secret shaver for over 10 years. Getting my face pinged didn't work. ( blonde ) all creams hurt stung and made my skin red for days.

I have very little facial hair now certainly not more and no it didn't grow faster either. Though I probably didn't have much I'm just very fussy.
A friend at work ( also blonde ) used to handover standing side on to the computer. The screen highlighted how hairy her face was when actually it was just a bit more than usual. But I didn't want that.
So in my experience it's been the easiest cheapest, best results option.
Maybe even a beauty marketing ploy to say no it's bad so buy our products/ pay for expensive treatments.

True, though I am glad I only have to shave the one hair off once a week rather than going through the palaver of a proper shave daily like men, who don't want a 5 o'clock shadow or a crumb laden beard have to do.
