It is honestly bothering me now I have thought of it - how did they become the main three flavours?

Thank you @BertrandRussell you are my new recipe queen after the carrot cake recipe some weeks back and (I think it was you?) a vegan lemon cake recipe that turned out fab!

My personal favourites are melon, blueberry or chocolate-orange. All commonly available in my home country. Also quite like liquorice ice cream but only in small amounts.

Interestingly the big tubs you get with three flavours are always strawberry, vanilla and pear. Not chocolate.

The new carte dor salted caramel is my new absolute favourite ice cream it is so so nice

Strawberry is disgusting. It should definitely be coffee.

I can’t believe no one has mentioned honeycomb. By far the best ice cream flavour.

I miss Gino Ginelli too. All of it was good.

Pizza but used to do a lovely Pistachio ice cream. It was so good.

My current favourite is morello cherry and amaretti from the Co-op, I love ice cream with cherry in it and this one is fabulous.

I’m vegan and all vegan ice cream is so expensive £6 for a little run!

I prefer pistachio or walnut ice-cream. But they are difficult to find here. I am often offered mint choc chip instead, I assume just because of the colour.

Mint choc chip is in no way an acceptable substitute for pistachio, so I go for vanilla- a good vanilla ice cream is lovely.

Almond kulfi is very good too!

I think the nut flavours are a bit neglected at the moment.

Blackcurrant & liquorice is gorgeous. Love a proper Italian pistachio ice cream as well.

Hate chocolate ice cream and rum & raisin.

Growing up it used to be chocolate, vanilla, and a nasty sweet pistacio flavour. Strawberry only came into play in the late eighties - I remember all the kids wanting to try it when our icecream man got it for the first time

I make my own thick shake with cheap bog standard vanilla and I put lemon extract in the blender along with my other ingredients.
It's so nice and makes me ask, why not lemon flavour ice cream or milk shake.

Salted caramel forever! Maybe cliche but a delicious one.

My favourites are raspberry ripple or coconut or sorbet. I prefer really fruity gelato more than creamy rich sweet ice cream usually. Coconut ice cream is the exception as it is so nice.

Well DH is out and 2 out of my 3 DC are sleeping so I can't go on an ice cream. Damn you all.

I love honeycomb ice cream. In new Zealand it's called Hokey Pokey which I think is a much better name for it!

I think they are flavours that are (or historically were) the easiest to reproduce synthetically. I’m sure I saw a news article last year that said that the majority of vanilla products are actually created with synthetic flavour.
