AIBU to want to buy that house in Canada

We will be relocating to Canada in the near future. We went on a trip recently and finalised the city/area we want to be in. I saw a lovely property that meets our requirements 10/10. AIBU to want to buy it now?
We have our visas (permanent residency) and can move anytime. DH is working on a project and he wants to see it through to completion. That’ll take us to next March-Apr. DH thinks we should buy that house and I move with the kids and he’ll join us next March. I’m not too sure.

Let it go? Or buy it? We have a buyer for our UK house and won’t need a mortgage for the house in Canada.

If it’s really perfect and you don’t want to lose it, can you buy it and then rent it out for 10 months until your DH has finished his project and you can move out there together?

Where is it? Vancouver has a foreign buyers tax.

We have our permanent residency. So no foreign buyers tax.

There's a lot of question marks at the minute with real estate (if it's Van). The money laundering story just broke and that may mean the government cracks down. That 5% of the annual growth. The foreign buyers tax is another chunk. Van used to be an absolute guaranteed income but maybe not now.

It's iffy and I'd talk to a trustworthy realtor (if you can find one).

Oakville is lovely. My aunt and uncle live in a similar house near there (actually the layout is exactly the same, so think it's the same developer).

Is that house so different that nothing similar will be available in nine months time? It’s a pretty standard Canadian suburban house.

I would stay here until you can move with your husband. Moving alone could pretty pretty lonely and isolating unless you already have family and friends over there. I wouldn’t fancy a harsh Toronto winter with no local friends and no husband. How old are your kids?

Kids are 4 and 11. No family nearby. My sister lives on the other side of Toronto.

It’s perfect for us in terms of layout, neighbourhood, schools, room sizes, everything !

Looking through some of the others the layouts seem quite similar, I would wait and move out together as I'm sure you'd be able to find one you equally like when it came to it..
