To not move

I've been a tit and misfueled this morning. I feel like a tit. Petrol in a diesel 🤦‍♀️

Anyway I'm stuck at the garage until help comes, can't start the car obviously and I'm pregnant so can't push it. My breakdown service said they were coming, then 20 minutes later called back to say it'd be after 10 (and it's not even 8!) so I've called someone else, they'll now be 45 minutes.

Other drivers and the people in the garage keep having a go at me, I've put a note on the back of the car to explain I can't move, spoken to several. A man from the garage just came out to say people are complaining to him and I'll just have to start the car or push it and go- no offer of help though. He said if there was any diesel in the tank it'll mix so not a problem and that there's diesel in the lines so a drive won't do any harm. Both bollocks.

Aibu to not move? I can't push a big car on my own even when not pregnant and it's up hill, there's a note in the back window explaining for anyone behind me and plenty of space for them to get out. It's not ideal, but what else can I do? Is there something else I could be doing?

What an utter dick that man is. I'm glad you've started the complaints process. Ds1 used to work at a BP station and I was surprised how thoroughly trained he was in health and safety, so I would imagine any responsible chain would take this man's actions seriously on that basis alone, never mind treating a customer so rudely.

Now come on Op, be honest, you were driving a tank or something too heavy to be pushed, weren't you?

@diddl I'd love a tank 😂 sadly it's your standard mpv type (with an added tonne of stuff in the boot, backseat and passenger footwell 😂)

If I'd had my own way I'd be in a 2 seater sporty number...

I can definitely believe how shitty people were being with you. I broke down in the middle of a small roundabout of a main route in rush hour.

My car was locked into gear because the auto gearbox had failed so rolling it wasn't possible.

I endured 20 minutes of abuse from every single other car that used the roundabout before two like minded men blocked all traffic and recruited other people to help bounce/drag my car to the side until the recovery people came.

Helping took less than 5 minutes and the roundabout was cleared. Some people would rather be arseholes than make a small gesture that could change how crappy someone else's day is.

Glad you're sorted now, definitely complain to the garage chain head office. It's bad enough when Joe public is being an arse, employees shouldn't join in and make it worse.
