Evening all, posting here for traffic, dd is cmpa ( cows milk allergy ) we are on stage one of the ladder 3 weeks in - snotty nose, awful cough, hot to touch and generally unwell could this be the dairy? Or a cold?
Fwiw last time we tried her on dairy she had the same only 4 days after having dairy not 3 weeks, she hasn't got a proper rash yet but a few spots on her legs, when she was diagnosed with cmpa her symptoms were ( at 10 weeks old ) awful nappy rash, red eyes, sneezing runny nose wheezing and finding it hard to breathe, this seems to happen every time we try stage one but usually around day 4 xx

Ds seemed to be intolerant as a baby when I tried to move from breast to formula. Was prescribed soya formula - this was years ago so probably things have moved on since then

I think it's more likely to be a cold. IME with my own DC, and from what I've read, allergic reactions are short term, soon after exposure to the allergen, and perhaps coming back a few hours later. I've never heard of it causing illness for several days.

Can you wait until she's better and then try stage 1 again, just once? If there's no reaction try again a couple of days later. If it immediately makes her ill again I'd ask the doctor for advice.

According to the NHS ( writing this as I'm not self diagnosed or following some new fad) I'm allergic to quite a few things, my dust, pollen and dander allergies have flu like symptoms for up to a week after exposure, so it is possible that your dc is reacting to an allergen in this way.
My food intolerances/ allergies normally result in d&v and swollen face with rash for about 24 hours after, rather than cold/ flu, how is your dc's stomach doing?

Thankyou for your replies, re stomach is fine, she's never had any problems tummy wise on dairy it's more rash and cold like symptoms, we started the ladder 2 weeks ago ( got it wrong I'm my previous post ) so I'm wondering if it's too late for it to be allergy or not, but this is exactly how she was last time I tried her on dairy xx
