Leaving baby in nursery for first time

My DS is nearly 10 months, and is starting nursery the week after next as I'm going back to work soon. Having thought I'd be totally fine leaving him, I'm suddenly dreading it. AIBU to feel anxious? Anyone else been there and through the other side?

Logically I know he'll be fine and it's probably good for both him and me, but does anyone have any practical tips on how to make the first few weeks easier? I'm thinking things like keeping myself busy on his settling in sessions, getting out early from work the first few days if I can, getting DH to split the drop offs as I'm sure they are the hardest etc.

Please note I don't want this thread to become a debate on the pros and cons of nursery etc, as it really is up to individual choice. I'd just like some practical tips to help settling in easier for both him and me.

My DS is nearly 2 and has been going 4 days a week since he was 11 months. Some days it is hard to get him to leave nursery now. I found lots of busy work that didn't allow time to think about anything was good. Also for him handing him over and leaving swiftly. The nursery sometimes distract him with a drink or some breakfast if he is having a bad day.
