Is this weird?

To buy my daughter an ‘engagement ring’ for her 18th birthday?
She wears a silver CZ marquise on her middle finger and has done for about 8 years, I’m at a loss what to but her for her 18th and thought I could upgrade to a diamond ring for her birthday. But I guess it’s usually bought as an engagement ring and this might be a bit weird?!

Opinions appreciated.

It isn’t weird if she’d choose a ring like that to wear on her middle finger. Could you ask her if there’s anything she’d like?

It's only weird if you choose to get down on one knee.

I'd have loved my mum to do that for my 18th.
My mum got me an engraved bracelet. I loved it!

Haha, I don’t plan on proposing 😂

Lovely idea. I'd take her shopping to point out a few she liked and then choose one as a 'suprise'.

I gave my daughter a ring that DH bought for me years ago. My mum gave DSis and I her engagement, wedding and eternity rings. As others have said, it's only a piece of jewellery unless you get down on one knee.
