I fear they will. Who else is there?

Perhaps after nearly a decade of Tory governments we could have some examples of positive policy?

The country is certainly in a better place than 2010 if you enjoy toxic political discourse, division and food banks.

NCforthis2019 · 19/05/2019 17:57

Anyone including the devil is better than Corbyn.

BertrandRussell · 19/05/2019 18:10

I’d really like to know what people think Corbyn would do if he gets to be prime minister.

longwayoff · 19/05/2019 18:15

What? We have to live in London to have an opinion on Bozza? Seems a tad ungenerous.

Snakelight · 19/05/2019 18:26

Under normal circumstances, Boris doesn't get anywhere near becoming PM. He's a snake playing a buffoon.

But, with the Tories being battered in the polls and haemorrhaging support to Farage's Brexit Party, Boris is probably an attractive option in that he would bring voters back.

Unfortunately I think it will happen.

UnicornBrexit · 19/05/2019 18:33

@Longwayoff - well I certainly would be rude enough to have an opinion on eg the Mayor for Peterborough, wouldn't even know his name, much less salivate over one of two policies that might have made their way into the press.

Our mayor, our business, your mayor is your business.

We quite liked the idea of the garden bridge. Cant say I was adverse to water cannons either. It wasn't much money in the great scheme of politicians spunking up walls. Not one of his best ideas but hey, we're all allowed off days.

TBH, this decade of tory rule has been infinitely preferable to the previous 13 years of Labour fuckwittery. Not that I'm a fan of either, but I'd rather Tory than Labour. At least Ive got a few pennies in my pocket at the end of the month now.

longwayoff · 19/05/2019 18:33

Sadly snakelight, it's a real possibility. Blonde ambition.

UnicornBrexit · 19/05/2019 18:35

@Snake - had Boris not been such a shit 3 years ago, he would have romped home in the leadership contest, clever move, never declaring and not standing, leaving TN to try and clear up this mess. (Im in danger of getting my soap box out)

longwayoff · 19/05/2019 18:36

That's ok unicorn, I did live in London when Boris was mayor, he lived just up the road. So, mayor and neighbour. Hope that's ok with you.

PATROCLUS...>>>I live in the Uk not the US so why would we be even talking about Trump?, this thread is about UK politics.

Unfinishedkitchen · 19/05/2019 19:07

I’m a born Londoner. Boris was a shit, lazy mayor, is racist (watermelon smiles), hates Scousers and poor people (austerity votes), is a serial adulterer, was the worst Foreign Secretary( Nazim) and has been fired multiple times, for lying.

How can he even be in the running? Is it because he compares himself to Churchill and can recite some Latin from school? Am I in the fucking twilight zone?

Unfinishedkitchen · 19/05/2019 19:15

When he was our mayor, by ‘our’ I mean Mayor for South West And West London, he spent most of his time trying to expand inequality and sell as much prime land to his mates and rich people as possible.

The garden bridge fiasco should’ve resulted in fraud charges. He and his chums spent millions, without a brick being laid, to try and build a bridge metres from two others in the West which would be used for corporate parties. The public would pay for it but private companies would own it then charge the public to cross it. Meanwhile the East of the city hardly has any crossings.

youkiddingme · 19/05/2019 19:25

Nobody else seriously wants it in this mess and it's the only chance he's likely to get. I fear it's all too possible - and sod the country yet again - each MP's career is obv way more important.

lljkk · 19/05/2019 19:45

widely regarded by his dons as a genius

? Just goes to show that brainy people can still be totally incompetent.

MockerstheFeManist · 19/05/2019 20:06

The MPs choose two names to put to the party.

The MPs think Bozza is an Old Etonian Spaff-Artist, and will do what they can to keep him off the ballot paper.

Hunt vs Gove, and Gove will walk it.

Justbreathing · 19/05/2019 20:08

Aaaahhhh not gove please

BoogleMcGroogle · 19/05/2019 20:22

They bloody would. And I think they will. He's lazy and opportunist but also very bright, political in the real sense of the word and extremely charismatic ( I met him once, socially, and does have something about him).

He's unpopular in the parliamentary party, but once he's running free on the prairies and plains of middle England, he will romp home.

Their best bet's Amber Rudd with her rational, measured one-nationism, but she's going have the fight of her life ( not least because after May's stint, they won't much fancy another woman).

I'm pretty sure that next election will be a choice between Johnson or Corbyn 🤢

PS- Lib Dems- the calm (ish, when they aren't being sweary) voice of liberalism, centrism and tolerance. Just saying.....

NiteFlights · 19/05/2019 20:30

I don’t like Jeremy Corbyn but at least he’s not a fucking psychopath like Boris Johnson (and Nigel Farage).

Amber Rudd is the most human option for the Conservatives but Tory party members are not known for their good judgment.

EnthusiasmIsDisturbed · 19/05/2019 20:31

Of course they shall vote Boris

And of course Tory MP’s will rally behind whoever is leading the party should they think they might loose power

Boris is popular he is the reason Leave won most get this and even if they don’t like him they know he is a vote winner

But I do think maybe he is just too late

Justbreathing · 19/05/2019 20:39

Another prime minister we didn’t vote for. Joy

longwayoff · 19/05/2019 20:50

And, people of Uxbridge and other West Londoners, don't forget BJ still owes you. If he doesn't lie down in front of the Heathrow bulldozers, as promised, perhaps you'll be good enough to pay him back by not voting for him.

OP posts:
StoorieHoose · 20/05/2019 06:15

JustBreathing we never vote for a Prime Minister. We are not American

mellongoose · 20/05/2019 06:22

I agree the MPs won't vote Boris in. I also doubt we will see anyone who has attended a cabinet meeting in the last six months.

mellongoose · 20/05/2019 06:23

However, if they screw it up and it goes to the membership then Boris is a shoe-in!

ArabellaDoreenFig · 20/05/2019 06:35

Justbreathing

Odd comment, we don’t vote our prime ministers in, (well apart from the borough where they live!) as we vote our local representatives in.
