I’m going away at the end of next month and have just been on accuweather only to see that it’s going to be raining for most of the trip!

I’m so annoyed, it’s a hot Mediterranean country that should be around 30* that time of year. I don’t want to go away just to be sat in bloody doors Angry

OP posts:
Bunnybigears · 18/05/2019 11:06

Where is it you are going? There is normally a few places of interest to visit even if it is raining. I would just take appropriate clothes and go anyway.

AdobeWanKenobi · 18/05/2019 11:07

A lot can change between now and next month.

Lazypuppy · 18/05/2019 11:08

You can't trust the weather that far in advance! It changes all the time.

It will probably still be hot even if it is raining

HomeMadeMadness · 18/05/2019 11:09

I think you're being very dramatic. The weather report won't be very accurate that far in the future. I make a point of never checking the weather report until I'm actually there as I just end up stressing out.

BlueCherries · 18/05/2019 11:09

The end of NEXT month?! The weather forecasts for the end of THIS month are completely unreliable until nearer the time so I wouldn't pay any attention whatsoever to a forecast that far away!

MyNewBearTotoro · 18/05/2019 11:09

Just because rain is forecast doesn’t mean the holiday will be a wash out. A forecast several weeks in advance isn’t guaranteed anyway, I find generally forecasts aren’t very accurate more than a day or two ahead. A forecast of rain also doesn’t necessarily mean ownpours 24/7, it might just mean there are going to be the odd showers with lots of sun in between.

I definitely wouldn’t cancel this far in advance when there’s still a high chance that the weather forecast will change nearer the time.

Pyjamaface · 18/05/2019 11:10

The forecast will change before the end of next month! I'm going away next week and the forecast changes every day still

European12345 · 18/05/2019 11:10

Yabu. Next month? Blimey how do they know what the weather is going to be like so much in advance ! They sometimes even don’t guess it one day to another let alone a month in advance!

GruciusMalfoy · 18/05/2019 11:11

YABU to totally trust a weather forecast that far in advance.

XiCi · 18/05/2019 11:12

End of next month? Can you even get forecasts for then? Even forecasts for a couple of days ahead are often wrong so I wouldnt worry about it.

HumptyNumptyNooNoo · 18/05/2019 11:14

I was on a canary island three weeks ago and it was colder than I'd hoped and very cloudy. But still had fun and came back with a tan. Just wore a hoody with my evening clothes and was sooooo glad I had a pair of slouchy socks to keep my feet warm too. Holidays are what you make them, just pack a few bits to deal with any adverse weather, but hopefully you won't need them.

squashyhat · 18/05/2019 11:19

I am currently in Spain near Barcelona. The forecast for yesterday, today and tomorrow on Accuweather was dire - rain and low temperatures. Yesterday it poured until 11 then cleared up. Today was beautiful and sunny but had now clouded up although not cold. Don't take it as gospel.

alwaysreadthelabel · 18/05/2019 11:20

God drama queen much! It's a month away. A whole month. Forecasting isnt in a reliable frame until about 5 days before. Get over yourself and go on holiday.

HBStowe · 18/05/2019 11:22

Wouldn’t you lose an enormous amount of money?

Long range weather forecasts are notoriously unreliable, so I wouldn’t cancel when so much could still change. Why not research what cultural / indoor activities there are in the area in case it is raining?

Pengrin · 18/05/2019 11:23

Wow you sound like a right fun drain.

QueenArnica · 18/05/2019 11:25

I get how you feel OP, you have an expectation and are worried it won’t be met.
As others have said, weather forecasts are unpredictable. I was in Tenerife in the Easter holidays, weather app said it was raining and I was on a sun lounger baking.
Make a wet weather plan just in case and perfect a sun dance!
Have a great holidaySmile

Isadora2007 · 18/05/2019 11:28

Would you get your money back? Could you look at other things to do than sunbathe?

DesparateDino · 18/05/2019 11:30

It's impossible to tell the weather that far in advance. Wait until a few days before and then look at the country that you are travelling to equivalent met office site.

EnjoyItAll · 18/05/2019 11:31

I would go. We checked the weather years ago when we went to wales and the day before it predicted horrendous thunderstorms but when we got there it was a 5 day heat wave. Same as when we went on holiday in January. It predicted thunderstorms for the whole first week and we flew long haul yet we had 5 minutes of rain and it was very warm rain then pure sunshine. Just take a waterproof jacket in case it does rain

ooohhhhcrap · 18/05/2019 11:31

Happened to me two years in a row op Hmm

In the end I changed the time of year we went and never had a problem since (fingers crossed for this year )

PinkHeartLovesCake · 18/05/2019 11:33

Dramatic much 🙄

Seriously sometimes they can’t ever get the weather for the current day right let alone a mont in advance.

Wouldn’t you also lose a lot of money? No insurance is going to pay out because they forecast rain surely?

Crunchymum · 18/05/2019 11:33

Would you get any money by cancelling now? Otherwise I can see no sane or logical reason anyone would even consider cancelling a holiday based on a weather forecast for 6 weeks time.

Mummyoflittledragon · 18/05/2019 11:34

I was also in the Canary Islands a few weeks ago. The weather was colder than usual. The forecast kept on saying rain. But we actually didn’t have any during the day. There was a slight shower one evening. I could lie out all day without being scorched and came back with a tan. You’re overthinking this.

HollaHolla · 18/05/2019 11:35

I think you’re being a bit of a drama queen here. If it rains, it rains. There must be other things to do? I’d bring some books/download some movies, and check out places to visit. Maybe look into hiring a car, so you can explore the area. I live in Scotland. If my activities were controlled by the weather, I’d go out about a dozen times a year....

mimibunz · 18/05/2019 11:39

I get it OP. It’s so endlessly cold here that you want your holiday to be warm. And it jolly well should be in the Mediterranean!
