AIBU to cancel my holiday?

I’m going away at the end of next month and have just been on accuweather only to see that it’s going to be raining for most of the trip!

I’m so annoyed, it’s a hot Mediterranean country that should be around 30* that time of year. I don’t want to go away just to be sat in bloody doors Angry

AccuWeather told me yesterday that it would rain this morning. So far we have only sunshine. And now AccuWeather is predicting no rain at all for today. If the forecast can change that much in 24 hours, how accurate can it be a month in advance? I wouldn't cancel a holiday based on that.

EggAndButter · 18/05/2019 11:43

You are believing a forecast more than a month ahead when you wouldnt trust the forecast for tomorrow here??

Come one. I get it’s disappointing if it rains when you are dreaming of sun and heat. But you have no way to know what the weather will be in one than a month.

juneau · 18/05/2019 11:44

You can't trust Accuweather! No one can predict what the weather will be in six weeks' time.

MightyAtlantic · 18/05/2019 11:45

Hmm Suck it up, buttercup!

DrinkSangriaInThePark · 18/05/2019 11:51

Not a chance can they know what the weather will be like that far ahead! The other day one of the main weather forecasters on Irish tv was interviewed and said they can't tell any more than about 3 weeks ahead. I'd say the Accuweather website was just defaulting to some average setting

Starlight2004 · 18/05/2019 11:51

Forcast won't be accurate that far in advance, can change a lot in the next few weeks. I never check more than a week ahead and even then it can change. Would you lose everything if you cancel? If it's that important to you and you can find somewhere with a perfect forecast without losing out then go ahead, it's your holiday. Do what makes you happy at the end of the day. But I wouldn't personally be putting that much faith in the forecast.

caughtinanet · 18/05/2019 11:52

Where is here mimibuntz? We don't all live where you do What a funny thing to say, the OP hasn't said either where she lives or where's she's going but regardless thinking a weather forecast for 6 weeks ahead is bonkers

fluffygal · 18/05/2019 11:52

Agree with others- forecast will change at least 10 times before you go! I get that you want sun, and in all likelihood you will get it!

sonjadog · 18/05/2019 11:56

Yes, I think you absolutely should cancel your holiday based on a current forecast for the end of next month.

LucheroTena · 18/05/2019 12:01

Accuweather couldn’t predict a piss up in a brewery. Needs to be renamed takeapuntweather.

BeverlyGoldberg · 18/05/2019 12:10

Is it Malta?

stucknoue · 18/05/2019 12:13

Weather forecasts are unreliable more than 72 hours out, more than a week is just guess work! I've seen two "forecasts" for June in the U.K., one was "bbq Britain " the other was "wash out June " !

GabsAlot · 18/05/2019 12:15

The end of next month they'll have no idea-theyve already changed the weather today from yesterday so dont panic

horizontalis · 18/05/2019 12:19

According to the current forecast it should be overcast with little chance of rain where I am right now. It is pissing down.

If they can't even get today's weather forecast right when all they have to do is look out of the window, I wouldn't put much store in the forecast for a month away.

pineapplepatty · 18/05/2019 12:20

Where are you going?

SandAndSeals · 18/05/2019 12:25

I went on one holiday where the forecast was rainy or stormy every day - what that ended up actually meaning was quick, heavy showers over within 20 mins or raining at night. It was actually lovely weather 95% of the time (and the rain cooled in down a bit too).

You are being very dramatic and shallow. Even if it did rain it would still be hot and you enjoy the culture, food and scenery.

babysharkah · 18/05/2019 12:28

The end of next month??

DonkeyHohtay · 18/05/2019 12:29

YABU - a forecast six weeks in advance is not in any way accurate.

NunoGoncalves · 18/05/2019 12:30

a) you really can't trust the weather forecast that far in advance
b) it rarely (although not never) rains all day in warm countries. Usually just a heavy afternoon thunderstorm.

Wolfiefan · 18/05/2019 12:32

I can go in your place if you want. Grin

Blueeyesdarkhair · 18/05/2019 12:34

No don’t cancel.
I had this in Feb with the canaries I was fed up about it and worrying. Nearer the time the forecast changed and it was glorious- 27 and sunny every day.

Zebedee88 · 18/05/2019 12:37

You can't trust the weather forecast that far in advance. I thought the weather was going to be bad for today, it's now hot and sunny with cloud...was meant to rain and pretty miserable

LarryGreysonsDoor · 18/05/2019 12:40

I went on holiday at Easter. The entire week was forecast to be raining and cold. It did rain for the first day but by the end of the week it was nice enough to swim in the see.

yearinyearout · 18/05/2019 12:50

A. Accuweather is the crappest weather app of them all and is rarely correct.
B. No weather app can forecast that far ahead with any accuracy.
C. Even if they could, weather fronts change constantly, so what might be the correct forecast as it stands today, it is likely to change several times by then.
D. There is more to life and holidays than lazing around in the sun. Do some sightseeing, soak up some culture, visit some good restaurants.

LightDrizzle · 18/05/2019 12:53

There's no way they can accurately predict that far out.
We are currently spending most of our time in Portugal and the weather forecast for a week away is often more pessimistic than what transpires.
