Younique and facebook

One fo my friends has recently started selling this stuff - Younique make-up.
On Facebook she has become this embodiment of positivity, lots of quotes, lots of photos. Then she does these videos about the product and her happy, happy life.
I know that in real life she doesn't have a happy, happy life and we (she and I) have talked previously about how other people's happy, happy, facebook can be damaging to mental health or hide mental health issues.
AIBU to think younique is like a cult and tell her to stop the pretending?

"Wow..."

Hey BABS, are you capable of starting a post without 'wow'? It'll be 'hun' next, mark my words.

Celebelly · 18/05/2019 23:40

* I get paid straight into my account 3 hrs after every purchase so am earning money whilst doing my day job.*

This is almost verbatim from Elle's blog about the stuff they were supposed to post on Facebook to encourage others to sign up Hmm

LetsGoFlyAKiteee · 18/05/2019 23:47

Wonder how it'll all change with the public vote

BAB0484 · 18/05/2019 23:57

I don't believe my last post started with.. 'wow'. I don't and never have called anybody 'hun' in my life! I'm just rather taken aback at the moment at the comments I am getting from people I don't even know. Ladies DO order products directly from my website... Therefore I Do get paid 3 hours later... It's a fact... That's all.
If you don't like skiing... Don't go.
If you don't like a certain restaurant... Don't go.
If you don't like certain products... Be it clothes, make-up, furniture etc... Don't buy them. It's that simple!.
Now, can anyone advise me please on home care when first home with a new born. Anyone had a nanny/night help for a few weeks... longer? Did you go through an agency...if so which one?

Many thanks in advance!

Osirus · 19/05/2019 00:03

I regularly earn £800 to £1,000+ every month, plus the incentives, car bonuses etc.

🤣

No you don’t! I know people who represent Younique and other similar schemes and they don’t make anything like that, even with parties and lots of friends buying stuff. It’s barely an income.

popehilarious · 19/05/2019 00:11

Do you get paid to work or do you only get to keep the difference between what you pay for the products and what customers pay you for them?

popehilarious · 19/05/2019 00:12

How many people come to an average party of yours? I buy a mascara probably once ever 4 months or so. Even if I bought 5 products from you at a party that'd presumably be a few quid profit for you per item?

popehilarious · 19/05/2019 00:15

If you give me actual verifiable numbers I might start believing a word of it...

BAB0484 · 19/05/2019 00:19

And let's just leave it there shall we...? I know what I earn.. I have basically just been called a liar. I cannot vouch for other people or how they choose to run their business or what their business model is... Not my call... we are all given opportunities in life... It's how we choose to use these. As I've said my networking is mainly house parties, which leads to more as the hostess will earn gifts for hosting. We all have the same 24 hrs in a day...it's how we choose to use them! I also have customers in other countries, friends and colleagues from my day job... Who in turn recommend me.

Agencies?? Night nanny's...??

popehilarious · 19/05/2019 00:21

Look, even if no-one says it to your face this is what most people think when you say you're with Younique. This is what you're associating yourself with.

I'll assume, then, as you somehow seem reluctant to post actual numbers, you earn approx 50p from each makeup sale. I value my time a lot more than that.

Lucyccfc68 · 19/05/2019 00:23

My sister fell for the 'Younique' sales pitch too. A load of us went to one of her parties to support her and bought a load of over-priced shite. The foundation cream left me with spots and the mascara was just full of clumps of pubic type hairy bits after 2 weeks. Total waste of money.

You would think, as a paramedic, she would be intelligent enough to see through Younique, but sadly - no. She, as with the other 99%, never made a penny out of it.

SpeckofStardust · 19/05/2019 00:24

So your only outlay has been a £69 starter kit yet you’ve been doing it for two years and have all these parties where people can try the products. That must be some starter kit if your samples have lasted two years (not to mention they’d all be out of date) and you haven’t had to buy any further supplies for people to try. What about new product lines? Seasonal colour ranges? You get all those samples for free do you?

And you’re making £800 a month in commission from your website and parties without depending on downline commissions? Plus you have a full time job and a new baby? Amazing.

Yeah, I’m thinking you’re being a bit economical with the truth here.

FissionChips · 19/05/2019 00:24

I regularly earn £800 to £1,000+ every month, plus the incentives, car bonuses etc

Lol.

Tiscold · 19/05/2019 00:27

Bab what about this, 2017, a class-action lawsuit was filed against Younique for promoting their Moodstruck 3D Fiber Lashes as “natural” and containing “100% Natural Green Tea Fibers” when it contains unnatural ingredients and no green tea leaves at all.

WifeOfCheater · 19/05/2019 00:28

Agencies?? Night nanny's...??

You know people here are more than just mummy's? They're also people concerned with women's issues - such as MLM cults that do target vulnerable women, often young or single mothers. You want advice on night nanny's then start your own thread.

BAB having done calculations, you say you earn £1000 per month - is this profit? If so then assuming you make the typical 25% on what you sell that's the equivalent of 222 £18 mascaras a month sold? Do you really expect us to believe that?

Alloftheboys · 19/05/2019 00:29

How my inspirational quotes do you post on Facebook? How many times do you use the hashtag “bossmum”? Hmm

peachgreen · 19/05/2019 00:32

A Younique hun tried to use my miscarriage and PND as an "in" to recruit me. They're monsters.

popehilarious · 19/05/2019 00:33

Oh wow... she's gone

Tiscold · 19/05/2019 00:34

Younique is a scam of a company and should be called what it is, an mlm for the gullible and brainwashed.

To earn more commission and benefits and move up the ranks from white to black etc you have to... sell lots of products and recruit people to sell products.

No legitimate business would require you to earn your commision by recruiting other people. Boots assistants don't need to hire people to earn money.

It's not a proper job, there's no legal minimum wage paid, it's all commission so you don't work for them at all, you're scammed by them it what is happening.

It has been shown they false advertise products and that lets be frank they're crap quality.

People are calling you a liar because most likely you're one. In a study in america it is calculated the average monthly earnings was 14 dollars. Now I'm not good at maths but that doesn't convert to your wage at all.

Chickenwings85 · 19/05/2019 00:38

Younique yuk!
The posts on Facebook give me such an irrational rage lol. They're cringy as hell and it's plain for all to see how brainwashed these people are.
If selling shite make up was going to get me a dream car, a luxury holiday and whatever ever else they're falsely promising, then surely every one in the bloody world would be doing it.
I've noticed it's a certain type of person who gets sucked into these things.

apacketofcrisps · 19/05/2019 00:40

So bab... you host parties so people can try the products... how do you do that with no stock or outlay?

Tiscold · 19/05/2019 00:43

Direct from a younique presenter aka victim herseld, so why are you telling us your wage. My Presenter’s agreement states that I’m not allowed to give income promises, this is because every Presenter joins Younique for a different reason.

So please canni have your id number for younique to report you please? If they're a legit business I'll be able to right?

LetsGoFlyAKiteee · 19/05/2019 00:44

Found Elle's blog so eye opening. It's crazy the pressure they are put under from above and in the end put themselves under. How much they have to spend to start with and then try and sell the stuff and try and make some sort of profit.

BAB0484 · 19/05/2019 00:55

I was just trying to share my experience and my insight... That's all. I saw the thread and knowing what I do I thought I would jump on and share what I do, what my experiences have been and how much I enjoy it. We don't hold stock. Commission is 30%. We earn Y cash which enables us to buy products which we use to replenish our kits...And get free make-up. I have never spent anymore than the £69 start up kit. I don't just sell mascara, but all make-up and skin care products. You haven't once heard me say 'hun' or 'bossbabe' as I never would! I have built my little business by me... for me. I regularly have orders from one person for over £150-£200 and I have built a large client base, which is growing every month and yes I do manage all of that. As I say, we all have the same 24hrs in a day, how we choose to use them is personal choice. Right now I'm dealing with emails and orders from Australia...

Thanks for the advice I will set up my own thread to get advice/help on nannys/night help... Sorry if anyone thinks I have high jacked this thread...was not my intention and for those of you that have either had or heard bad things... Please don't believe everything you hear or read... I am sure there are some presenters that are doing their own thing... Their choice in their business... I don't speak or act on their behalf.

MissMoan · 19/05/2019 01:01

When things like this come up on facebook, I will not block, but I will hide the posts of the friend in question so their posts no longer show in my feed.
I will however snap when they ignore my protests after trying to convince me to sell this stuff too. If they are constantly recruiting people to sell, then who the hell is buying this stuff? It's not a sustainable business model.
