My chuffing tooth!!!

Posting for traffic really. My back molar is driving me mad. Two back cusps have broken off leaving the tooth sharp in my mouth. Dentist said it needs a root canal and a crown. Dentist has attempted root canal twice. First time one nerve in tooth was still ‘live’ and causing pain despite 4 lots of anaesthetic. He then put temporary filling on. Came back 6 weeks later and he couldn’t get the tooth numb! 4 lots of needles again. Put another temporary in. It’s fallen out twice and had to be put back in. It’s now fallen out again and back of tooth near tongue is sharp. What on Earth are my options now? Dentist talked about pulling it but it’s got long roots and curved roots so I’m really scared about that option. If they can’t get it numb how the hell am I going cope with having it pulled??! AIBU to be completely fed up with this tooth?!

Ask for referral to nearest dental hospital and have it removed under general A

You need to be referred to a specialist, I had this with a back molar and he had it out in 20 mins, stitched up and honestly I healed so quickly. Compared to another tooth that had shattered upto the root that a regular dentist took 2 hours to get out and sliced the inside of my mouth fully open. That was horrific. You can buy pots of temporary filling from boots etc to save money if it keeps falling out. Put the filling in and over the tooth I find it holds better, my dentist told me I did a better job than he did when I replaced mine waiting for an appointment!
