The police in my area are very active on Facebook and frequently post mugshots of people they have convicted.
These are often of clearly vulnerable people ie with really poor dental care, acne or disabilities. The photos invariably attract the most awful comments from the public. Always based around appearances.
Sometimes the "convicts" are little more than kids themselves and I'm guessing they would benefit more from help/rehab than ridicule.
I am honestly starting to wonder if the police are doing this for their own amusement, but in doing so I think they are guilty of spreading a nasty and bullying culture.

It doesn't sit well with me, the same as Jeremy Kyle in his revolting show. People do bad things, people mess up but we shouldn't be using them as entertainment fodder for the masses. It's in very poor taste.

I am torn on it all. Some seem to go too far but at the same time it does rather come under “do the crime...”

If you rob, assault or rape someone you deserve not only punishment through justice system but mockery by the society too. May it be for your teeth or because you are stupid enough to get stuck in a window while trying to break into a house.

If police keeps quiet, people shout they are not doing anything. If they don't keep quiet, people shout that they shouldn't publish it.
If they have comments on, people shout that they are mean and they should disable them. If they disable them, people will shout that it's a censorship or whatnot.

Police are like social services.
Damned if they do, damned if they don't.

This mentality is why we needed to ban freakshows. If you need a class of people to look down on, start with yourselves. Ask yourself why you need poverty porn to feel superior.

It's not poverty porn. People take equal piss out of rich fraudsters. Plus local drug dealers reportedly make more than our local MP.

I don't know how it is for others but I certainly didn't giggle at comments under pic of my burglar due to some need to feel superior... 🤷‍♀️
