To ask if I need to take the morning after pill?

I've never taken it before & usually am on the combined pill (Yasmin) however I've had to stop it for a month as I'm having some tests done for my health (a whole other story!).

Anyway, boyfriend & I did the deed tonight, we used a condom but I'm concerned about any sperm cross contamination (him dripping onto me/him putting condom on having touched it, making condom contaminated). Sorry, TMIBlush

Would I need to take the MAP due to this? I wiped it off myself but I'm still concerned.

Thanks Smile

Do you know where you are in your cycle?

I've had condoms break and only taken it if it was in the danger zone (once). In your shoes, I'd probably take it for peace of mind. In mine, I could calculate the risk and decide whether it was necessary or not.

Rtmhwales · 16/05/2019 03:42

I'm confused about how it got on you afterward if it was in the condom though. Can you explain that more if it's not too embarrassing? Theoretically it should've all been inside the condom, no?

whywhywhy6 · 16/05/2019 07:17

I have been in a similar situation (I.e. practically no risk of anything having gotten through but...??) and I took it simply because it gave me peace of mind. I would not be happy if I had not bothered and somehow it led to pregnancy so thought it better to be safe than sorry!

Quartz2208 · 16/05/2019 07:28

Rtmh is right if put on correctly there should not be any cross contamination. So proper use should never require the map

So what makes you think there was? Condoms are pretty effectiv

iamclaireandfleabag · 16/05/2019 07:32

If you are not ready to be pregnant and have any doubt about the condoms effectiveness or pre or post sperm transfer, take emergency contraception! You have 72 hours to take levonelle and 120 hours for Ella one. Sexual health will give you it for free as will your GP/nurse practitioner. They will also advise about when to take your usual contraception again and timescales to protect yourself in the interim. I personally wouldn't sit working out my cycle etc unless I was prepared to risk an unplanned pregnancy.

I don’t think there is any need to, but I understand why you’d want price of mind. If you did decide to take the MAP, then it’s worth asking if it will effect the tests your having.

Skittlesss · 16/05/2019 08:00

I’m sorry you’re stressed, and a little embarrassed, but if you could please try to explain a little more to us then we may be able to help.

Are you saying he ejaculated once and then put a condom on afterwards?
