What is this and how do I treat this? I just noticed it and to b honest if I didn't physically SEE it it wouldn't have really bothered me. It don't have any discharge or weird smell but I have a bad anxiety disorder and now I'm having panic attacks assuming it's REALLY BAD!

I get this from buttonof my jeans. Are you allergic to metal?

Spiderpants · 15/05/2019 23:05

Is it wet? Or dry
If it wet try a little bit of talc, can be if you haven't dried it or got a bit sweaty

vadamarie · 15/05/2019 23:08

No I'm not allergic to metal however at work I do dishes Alot of them and my shirt gets wet but I have been for sum time and this never happened...I hate feeling scared and googling it only makes me worseHmm

I get this every now and again. Wash it with clean water dry it and let it air out, it'll be fine in a couple of days.

Cannyhandleit · 15/05/2019 23:11

I tend to get this in summer, I thinks it's from the heat! Just Colleen it clean and dry and it should clear up

LoafofSellotape · 15/05/2019 23:12

Dab of Sudocrem sorts it out,or Savlon cream.

Justmuddlingalong · 15/05/2019 23:12

I get a fusty belly button now and again. Sucocrem soon sorts it.

BMW6 · 15/05/2019 23:14

Bathe with salt water, air it as much as possible, make sure no gunk inside.

SimplySteveRedux · 15/05/2019 23:17

Strange question - have you had any surgeries, ever, affecting your belly button. Appendix removed? Gallbladder? Liver lobe?

vadamarie · 15/05/2019 23:22

Ok it looks more wet than dry but like I said nothing is oozing out of it and wen I used qtip to put peroxide there wasn't any odd color or anything...I guess I've never had this before and I'm scared. It seems a bit itchy NOW that I seen it but there's no pain.. is it literally just chapped? And wat do I do for it?

Justmuddlingalong · 15/05/2019 23:24

Calm down. Air it and use antiseptic cream. Make sure you dry it well after showering. It'll clear up fine.

DerrenBrownings · 15/05/2019 23:24

It's fine. Relax. Clean it (not invasively) and let it air dry. It's fine. See a GP in regards to your anxiety.

Yubaba · 15/05/2019 23:25

Belly buttons are a great breeding ground for fungal infections, try some clotrimazole 1% cream. Should clear it in a few days.

vadamarie · 15/05/2019 23:26

Yes gallbladder and also tubes tide but they were both over 5 years ago or more

LaLaLamp · 15/05/2019 23:26

Use cooled boiled water with salt in it, and cotton pads, clean regularly for a few days. I have one of those 'inny' belly buttons and the fatter I get the deeper the tunnel Grin so every now and then it needs a good clean

Haggisfish · 15/05/2019 23:26

Yes I got thrush in my tummy button and it started as you described. Thrush cream got rid of it quickly!

vadamarie · 15/05/2019 23:29

What is thrush cream? Also what is this from?

OP posts:
Justmuddlingalong · 15/05/2019 23:31

Not drying properly. Sweat. An inny belly button. It's very common, easy to clear up and absolutely nothing to be anxious about.

LaLaLamp · 15/05/2019 23:35

Thrush cream is usually called Canesten, available over the counter at pharmacy/also I think in supermarkets.

SimplySteveRedux · 15/05/2019 23:36

I'm male (if not obvious from username). Have had appendix and gallbladder removed via belly button and have it inflamed and irritable a few times in the few years since.

You should check with GP, mine recommended E45 and a course of antihistamines.

vadamarie · 15/05/2019 23:36

Ok thank you so much I'm trying to calm down and stop feeling like it's something so serious and I appreciate ALL of the advice

scratchyfluffface · 15/05/2019 23:54

I've had this on and off since I was a child. Wash properly, dry properly and use some talc every day and it'll go in a day or two. It's nothing serious, just where you get a bit sweaty and start to get a skin irritation
