Okay I’m joking but I have recently joined a gym and took my first ever HIT class the other day , I am in a bad way struggling to walk , it’s just taken me 10 mins to get off the couch and up the stairs 🙈😂 what’s the best thing to ease these aching stiff legs ? And will it ever get easier haha

Epsom salts in the bath, follow the instructions on the packet :)

TheDarkPassenger · 15/05/2019 21:24

I don’t know but when I first started running and overdid it I fell down the stairs at my old work and dropped a tray of room service everywhere. My legs were like fucking jelly and I knew it wasn’t going to end well but I tried it anyway!

I rested 😂

JaneEyre07 · 15/05/2019 21:25

Ibuprofen x3 a day, and lots of warm baths.

A friend of mine talked me into doing an "on the ball" class one day, I couldn't move without crying for 3 days afterwards. I'd used muscles in places I didn't know I had them.

Never again!!

IJustLostTheGame · 15/05/2019 21:26

A hot bath and more gentle exercise. It sounds mad but unless you keep yourself moving the stiffening back up will make your aches worse.

It will get better surprisingly quickly

Whatelsecouldibecalled · 15/05/2019 21:29

Keep moving. You’ve got an excess amount of Lactic acid build up which is what is making your muscles ache. Product of not cooling down and stretching properly at the end of exercise. Warm bath and Epsom’s salts will help. Lots of water to rehydrate. Protein powders post exercise also help with muscle ache but only when you’re training quite hard. Be careful not to buy cheap crap. Your body won’t thank you for it. A light protein meal after training is good. Scrambled eggs on toast for example. Above all to reduce this a good stretching routine post work out will become your best friend.

It does get easier.....promise!

Drink more water! And keep moving. It passes :)

youarenotkiddingme · 15/05/2019 21:56

Yeah to salts.

Also I lay on my back with my legs on the gym ball and move them in and out. I find gentle weightless movements loosen my muscles.

SmileEachDay · 15/05/2019 21:58

Get a muscle roller.

Pinotjo · 15/05/2019 22:03

It's called DOMs, Delayed Onset Muscle soreness, ice bath is best, then power thru, it gets easier!
