To ask if you know a cheaper version of Farrow & Ball shaded white?!

We need to redecorate a room that was originally painted shaded white (Farrow & Ball) but wondered if anyone knows a cheaper version that's a similar shade as we like the colour but not the price/durability of F&B!

There is a site (www.e-paint.co.uk/Colour_alternatives.asp) that lists alternatives to many paints which also codes how close to the original the alternative might be. They have one listed for F & B Shaded White that is shown as being virtually undistinguishable from the original. Johnstones also mix trade quality paint to F & B colours so already have the formulas in their mixing system

As the poster above mentioned, Johnstones do colour matching and they have the F&B colours set in their system. They also do the finishes brilliantly. I've used them many times for a variety of white shades and they're very good. I have even painted half a wall F&B skimming stone, run out, painted the other half Johnstone's version with flat matt finish and you wouldn't have known.

Try decorating centre online - the matching seems good, but you can order a matched tester first to check (they're huge too!). It's leylands trade paint as well, so excellent quality and a dream to paint with

Johnson's match v well, my decorators always use them.

My friend had Stiffkey Blue colour matched by Johnstones and it's fantastic.
