To not do my housework..

I know I am, it's just the one part of life I detest..

Help me get some motivation to get cracking. I'll feel great once it's done but it's getting of my backside that's the hard part!

I'm the same today. I can't get motivated to do it. I was in the mood yesterday but I was out all day!

DreamsOfDownUnder · 15/05/2019 16:38

@TheChippendenSpook I'm never in the mood, but it's a shit tip and has been for days. I really need to do it!

It's too sunny here today for housework. It can wait until tomorrow Smile

miaCara · 15/05/2019 16:38

I do any household jobs in fits and starts. So I might wash the dishes and clear the sides and then go and have a bit of MN time. Then I might put the dishes away and wash the floor before having a cuppa and a read of the papers etc.
I seem to be able to do a lot of things in this way while appearing to have a nice time reading or MNing. Plus I dont get the feeling that Im snowed under with work.
BTW -I work full time so this method only applies to non working days .On working days I do as little as possible.

LizziesTwin · 15/05/2019 16:40

Can you do the 15 minutes thing? You set a timer for 15 minutes and do housework that long, then you stop. Do another 15 minutes later if you feel like it. Choose whichever room is in the worst state for the first 15 minutes

DreamsOfDownUnder · 15/05/2019 16:48

@WhatWouldTheDoctorDo it is very sunny, but you haven't seen my flat 😅

@miaCara I work up to 9hrs a week and have a baby so at home quite a lot - I have no excuses!

I can't see my house from the garden Grin

PrincessMaryaBolkonskaya · 15/05/2019 16:58

I’m in the ‘sod the housework’ club too. I’m too comfy under my blanket, and frankly the washing isn’t going anywhere is it 🤷🏻‍♀️

DreamsOfDownUnder · 15/05/2019 17:00

Glad I'm not the only one feeling lazy! You're all making me feel better Grin

Stayawayfromitsmouth · 15/05/2019 17:03

*housework.

DreamsOfDownUnder · 15/05/2019 17:04

@Stayawayfromitsmouth don't deserve sunshine, I'm to blame not the dc - she's 8 months!

Audio books are your friends

I’m a bit of a clean freak anyway, however audio books have taken to another level. I actively enjoy his work when I’ve got a good audio book on the go

housework

StBernard · 15/05/2019 17:05

I do the 15 minutes. Or put a show on the iPad while I wash up, dry and put away. Then often this will extend into clean the sink and surfaces because I want to see the end of the programme. Or make a list with everything broken into tiny parts and tick it off as I go.

Can't be bothered today though. Am thinking of procrastinating then running around getting everything done in the 20 mins before I have to pick the dc up.

Singlebutmarried · 15/05/2019 17:05

I sorted out our bedroom last night and did all the washing AND put it away.

That now officially absolves me of doing any more housework for at least this week.

Amibeingdaft81 · 15/05/2019 17:11

I find that once I get in to it, I’m away

And so lovely and comfortable and satisfying at end of day to be sitting in clean tidy organised home.

Do it!!

DreamsOfDownUnder · 15/05/2019 17:25

@Amibeingdaft81 I've put some music on and started in the kitchen! I'm all good now 😁

And you’re off! You won’t regret

LadyRannaldini · 15/05/2019 18:11

One to ponder for the future, I'm well into retirement and I can safely say that the house was far cleaner and tidier when I worked full-time and had two children at home!

DreamsOfDownUnder · 15/05/2019 18:32

@LadyRannaldini think it will be the other way round for me!
