Disneyland

BritWifeinUSA · 13/05/2019 22:58

Spain. Tried it twice to give it a fair chance but not for me. The same applies to Malta.

Would never go to Argentina because of the Falklands.

Any all-inclusive resort-type place.

Would love to go to Cuba but can’t due to living in the USA. DH is American so he definitely can’t go and I’m not going alone.

Capara · 13/05/2019 22:59

@Nearlythere1

There is terrorist risk everywhere. But Turkey is different to Tunisia in that their military and intelligence is very strong. I would trust the Turkish response in a way that i wouldn't the Tunisian.
A good friend of mine was murdered in a terrorist attack in Egypt and the Egyptian response was abysmal, they were more concerned with their reputation than actually saving lives. So i am very alert to terrorist risk and a key part of that is how competent are the authorities to respond. For that reason i would go to places like Turkey and Israel but would hesitate with Egypt or Tunisia.

Thailand comes second- absolute sh*t hole

Can't afford to go back to Blackpool this year but for the last two it's been a great place to spend a few days. Lots to do: a seafront that goes on for miles with a culture of fitness and outdoors; some class theatre and dancing; the tradition of accommodating friendliness and the roller coasters.

The good thing about Blackpool is that it can be cheap or posh but there will always be a friendly welcome. How can anyone dismiss somewhere so close to home that obviously needs some input?
It's flat and usually bracing with a multitude of activities in a beautiful part of the county.

Last place I ever want to go again is the Lake District. Nothing for kids.

Sugarformyhoney · 13/05/2019 23:03

Dubai or similar. Las Vegas.

Oliversmumsarmy · 13/05/2019 23:04

Las Vegas - don’t like gambling, shopping or hot weather

Went recently. I don’t gamble, or going shopping and it was bloody freezing.

idontlikebirthdaycake · 13/05/2019 23:05

My Mother's House... She thinks my daughters are dollies that she can dress up and tote about. Kinda annoying really, I'd also never go abroad anywhere. I like to stick to Wales, Scotland and Cornwall

horizontalis · 13/05/2019 23:05

Skiing
Dubai

Both at completely opposite ends of the temperature scale, I know!

Choccydoodle · 13/05/2019 23:08

Any cruise

DesparateDino · 13/05/2019 23:10

I seem to like most of the places some of you have hated.

I honestly can't think of a place I wouldn't like to holiday other than a war torn country.

Love Benidorm the old town is lovely.

Love USA & Vegas.

You are so lucky to have been to some of these places.

MsTSwift · 13/05/2019 23:11

Lanzarote is lovely far from grotty.

Anywhere with a perverted misogynistic culture which rules out North Africa. Visited Egypt in my twenties with a female friend. What a hell hole. We ended up reading our books in the hotel room to escape the relentless verbal and physical sexual abuse we got from literally every other man. Fun times!

Ragwort · 13/05/2019 23:11

Lake District has been one of our favourite holidays Grin, plenty for children to do. This thread just shows how diverse our interests are.

Oliversmumsarmy · 13/05/2019 23:12

Cornwall and Scotland.

Cornwall when I go (been 3 times on holiday) it has rained and rained and rained. It also doesn’t really cater for vegetarians

Scotland is just too cold

Blankspace4 · 13/05/2019 23:12

Really don’t see the appeal of Dubai or any of the UAE. Hate the vulgarity and the treatment of women.

Unihorn · 13/05/2019 23:13

@yearinyearout these threads always bring out people dismissing entire continents for some reason, usually based on bizarre stereotypes. I can understand not wanting to travel somewhere because of poor human rights records, government regimes or even climate to an extent. But it always just comes across as quite ignorant when people just write off massive places with varying climates and activities within them.

With most holidays I think it's just what you make it. I never fancied Ayia Napa as I assumed it was a bit of a club 18-30 place, but we went off season for a wedding and had a lovely time. It wasn't unbearably hot and there were nice walks around some catacombs and historical sites.

bibbitybobbityyhat · 13/05/2019 23:13

Centre Parcs!

Blueberrybell · 13/05/2019 23:14

Hmm - mine are also the gulf states, Tunisia, South Africa, Turkey, New York.

But... if you’d have asked me 2 years ago I’d have also said Orlando, Mexico and Poland. I ended up visiting all of them and really liked them, so I try and keep more of an open mind now.

Oliversmumsarmy · 13/05/2019 23:14

Used to go to Blackpool when I was a child.

No way would I go back

sweetkitty · 13/05/2019 23:14

Blankspace4 - Dubai/UAE spring to my mind immediately too.

Blankspace4 · 13/05/2019 23:15

@mrsTSwift I experienced exactly the same in Tunisia with a friend about 14 years ago. Prisoners in the hotel or constant unwanted harassment. We were only in our early 20s and quite frankly it terrified me.

Have been to Dublin and Blackpool and have no desire to return ever again.

Just driving through Rhyl was enough to know I would never go there again.

Never been interested in: Benidorm, Turkey or any haven site.

MsTSwift · 13/05/2019 23:23

Blank we ventured to sit by the pool and the waiters cane out and stood staring at us so we couldn’t even sit there. We went to the pyramids paid £40 each for a donkey ride (extortionate this was late 90s) and my friends donkey died with her on it! And she was an animal lover. Worst country ever.
