Sheer bliss

AJPTaylor · 13/05/2019 22:34

A cruise of any sort.

perplexedagain · 13/05/2019 22:34

I have no desire to go to China or Japan. yes I'm sure Japan in particular is amazing but I don't want to go there / or spend that long on a plane getting there.

scaryteacher · 13/05/2019 22:35

Iran, Iraq, Libya, Yemen, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Tunisia, Saudi, Kaliningrad, Somalia, Sierra Leone, and anywhere else not recommended by the FCO website!

I would go back to Dubai (was only there for a couple of days), and Oman was very pleasant.

kateandme · 13/05/2019 22:36

does anyone live in the most popular mentions on here and can dispell it?
i dont want to say anywhere incase i offend! but there are some places i just really dont want to go.half probably for judgemental reasons Blush

Sickofphd · 13/05/2019 22:36

This thread is making me really sad - so many sweeping assumptions and prejudices being shared. 'Any Muslim country'? Like over 1 billion of the world's population and any number of countries? Confused The Middle East is hugely diverse politically and culturally yet again people are happy to dismiss the entire region. Even Turkey is a hugely diverse country with different languages, climates, cultural influences.

And countries such as Pakistan have incredible scenery and have been receiving a lot of attention of late - just look at prominent vloggers such as Mark Wiens, The Food Ranger, Eva Zu Beck. Watch their videos, you may be pleasantly surprised.

Doubletrouble99 · 13/05/2019 22:37

Africa doesn't appeal at all but mainly north Africa as previously stated by many. No interest at all in the middle east especially Dubai.
American mid west and southern states - anywhere too republican, racist and gun owning and I'm a Conservative Brexit voter!

kateandme · 13/05/2019 22:37

scaryteacher
do you think there is anyone that wants to go to them?

Hollowvictory · 13/05/2019 22:37

What's Palma done wrong? To be twinned with Blackpool and magaluf?

Girlicorne · 13/05/2019 22:44

Lots of people have mentioned Blackpool here, it's one of our favourite UK places to visit (after Devon and Cornwall!). The only places I would nt want to go are anywhere classed as unsafe by the government, other than that I d pretty much try anywhere.

Muchtoomuchtodo · 13/05/2019 22:44

Morecambe
Any of the UAE
Egypt
Turkey.
Tunisia
China

notso · 13/05/2019 22:44

Centre Parcs.

LellyMcKelly · 13/05/2019 22:46

I wouldn’t go back to Moldova, Blackpool or Butlins. I don’t fancy one of those Spanish resorts full of British expats who sit about eating Full Englishes and drinking all day as that’s a waste of two weeks annual leave. I could do that in a Wetherspoons in Bognor. I’d be up for going everywhere else.

Kernobhead · 13/05/2019 22:47

Skiing has never appealed, but I do like cold places and snow. Just have zero coordination and the ski lifts look terrifying.

Looks like a very expensive way to break a bone.

Gwenhwyfar · 13/05/2019 22:47

"Devon and Cornwall are way too expensive for what they are- much nicer and cheaper to go to Scotland or Wales"

Weather is better in Devon and Cornwall.

Kernobhead · 13/05/2019 22:49

Also cruises, or any sort of holiday involving organised entertainment, group bonding sessions, organised day trips.. just hit my thing, I like travelling alone and setting my own agenda

Gwenhwyfar · 13/05/2019 22:49

"The rest is a middle east backwater "

Izmir isn't.

Muchtoomuchtodo · 13/05/2019 22:49

@floraloctopus Have you ever been to Barry Island?

Granted, it’s not somewhere to book a fortnights holiday to but it’s actually got a really lovely beach.

This was taken on Saturday

Capara · 13/05/2019 22:50

@namechangesamerage

I have issues with the Govt there too but i dont think that's a reason not to go to a country. One of the reasons Franco's dictatorship fell was the impact of mass tourism in Spain. We holidayed in Turkey in the days beford Erdogan and I've been since for work only- but I'm itching to go back with the whole family

Chickydoo · 13/05/2019 22:50

UK holiday parks (all types)
Wales (went once...rained for 2 weeks and was dreary)
Package holidays to Tenerife, Lanzarote, Malaga, Magaluf Benidorm etc.
Cruises... I would hate to be among so many people on a floating package holiday hotel.
Dubai

Costacoffeeplease · 13/05/2019 22:51

Any AI resort
New Orleans (been and would never go back)
Any butlins/pontins etc
Any form of camping or glamping
Far East
Australia
Tunisia/Morocco/Libya/Syria/Iraq obvs

Gwenhwyfar · 13/05/2019 22:53

"Was ok in the day, weirdly menacing at night. Never again."

I found Manchester menacing in the middle of the day last time I went there.

blue25 · 13/05/2019 22:55

Libya
Egypt
Dubai
Ireland
Canary Islands
Pontins/Butlins

Jenniferturkington · 13/05/2019 22:55

Feeling the need to defend Albania; it is a beautiful country, lovely weather and everyone we met was friendly and helpful.

Also Istanbul is one of the best cities in the world to visit imho.

For me, I have no desire to visit Germany again.

Gwenhwyfar · 13/05/2019 22:56

"What's Palma done wrong? To be twinned with Blackpool and magaluf?"

Palma is lovely. I suspect the pp had been to one of the resorts outside Palma, which I gather have a completely different feel.
