I just came back from Turkey and it was lovely and I'd defo go back - you tend to get a much nicer hotel for your money than you do in say Spain. Not all areas are dangerous and most popular resorts will be fine, the security at the airports is really high too.

My own list consists of mostly anywhere long haul, I get restless after about four hours stuck in one seat! Defo Australia (spiders can do one) or any ski destinations (the uk is more than cold enough for me)

SnowyAlpsandPeaks · 13/05/2019 22:10

It's no good, I'm going to have to stop reading this thread, people are spouting so much bullshit about places they've clearly never been or know anything about, it's giving me the rage 🙈

Boysey45 · 13/05/2019 22:13

Just thought of another one, Saudi Arabia, no thanks.

stucknoue · 13/05/2019 22:14

UAE, too hot, too new, poor human rights especially for females. Anywhere that stipulates what I wear is out too, I don't actually like skimpy clothes but I don't want men telling me what I can wear

cherry2727 · 13/05/2019 22:15

Australia !

I love Wales and live there

BlackcurrantJamontoast · 13/05/2019 22:18

Gosh, I have been to most of these places.

Travel broadens the mind and all that. Don't knock it until you have tried it.

Casiloco · 13/05/2019 22:18

With PPs on Dubai and other Gulf states.
Also Florida, Las Vegas, Disneyland wherever, magaluf, Benidorm.

Actually really disappointed by Barbados - lovely people but eye-wateringly expensive and VERY geared up to all-inclusive resort style holidays, not independent travellers. Thought I would love it ...but no.

Russia, Ukraine, not fussed by Baltic states or Iceland - mostly too cold for me.

Shocked by people dismissing an entire continent!!! - Africa, which is incredibly diverse. Beautiful (Uganda, South Africa, Tanzania, Ethiopia), historic (Egypt, Morocco, Ethiopia again) amazing wildlife (Central and Eastern Africa) and mesmeric. Anywhere sub-Saharan, the people and culture get "under your skin".

TheBreastmilksOnMe · 13/05/2019 22:18

JanisJoplin there is no ‘climate situation ‘, it’s all propaganda.

Remember the polar bear adrift on the ice cap, the acid rain, rising sea levels, carbon footprints, now it’s plastic straws and plastic bags, next who knows?

It’s a load of tosh and nonsense designed to create a sense of shame, fear and anxiety about the work because then we are much easier to control.

WhentheRabbitsWentWild · 13/05/2019 22:18

Gulf States
Pakistan
Portugal

Mnbb · 13/05/2019 22:19

@nearlythere1 - I lived in turkey for 9 months last year and couldn’t agree less with your description. It’s a stunning country of huge variety with friendly people who were nothing but welcoming. We didn’t live near a big resort, I will agree parts of Turkey have been ruined by mass tourism but plenty of magical places remain. I now work in westminster and feel much more jumpy about terrorism than I ever did in Turkey.

puppy23 · 13/05/2019 22:19

Oh and India as another one. In all honesty though I only really enjoy an all inclusive prepares to be judged

NameChangeSameRage · 13/05/2019 22:19

Can't believe how many people have said Turkey!! It's bloody amazing. Dh is a history buff and we spent a month backpacking all over Anatolia. It was fabulous. Great sights, history, nature, food, people. Istanbul was just superb. What's not to like let alone make the list of detested places?!

I'm sure that the county is beautiful and, individually the (admittedly few) Turkish people I have met have all been lovely people. My issues are with the government.

Mortgages · 13/05/2019 22:19

Amazed at people saying most of Africa!
Africa is a very diverse continent with each country being unique...

TidaQuel · 13/05/2019 22:22

I’m with thenightsky, whilst there’s plenty of places I’d prefer to go, I’d not say no to anywhere. Tenerife doesn’t interest me much but I know that the north is a lot different to the south.

I can’t think of a single place I wouldn’t go to. And far too many that I’m super keen to explore (several mentioned on here)

Ohyesiam · 13/05/2019 22:27

India (purely down to the food)
It’s one of the main reasons I go!

Wouldn’t go to any Disney Park, or Persian gulf, or anywhere pure touristy, like Blackpool.

DontCallMeShitley · 13/05/2019 22:27

Benidorm
Palma

Israel is a beautiful country BTW. The resorts not so much these days.

lastqueenofscotland · 13/05/2019 22:30

I had to go to Morecambe recently for work. Was ok in the day, weirdly menacing at night. Never again.

All these people saying Maldives. What’s wrong with the Maldives? Looks beautiful!
