Surprised to see Japan and Australia as frequent entries on so many people's anti-bucket lists. They're top must-dos for me. Of course Australia has a culture! The aboriginal culture is one of the oldest on the entire face of the planet.
I could never spend upwards of a day or two lying on a beach (and even those days would be well interspersed) so the Seychelles and Maldives wouldn't appeal to me.
I like active holidays (surfing, riding, canoeing, mountain walking) or places with plenty of culture to spend hours walking around (Florence, St. Petersburg, Jerusalem, Paris) but I'm another one who doesn't fancy skiing or snowboarding.
I'm respectful of other cultures and take care to dress conservatively, but if I never saw Egypt again ( or any country that treats women's bodies as dirty things that require covering up) I wouldn't be disappointed. Visited Cairo and Alexandria (not a Red Sea resort), and both were replete with that invasive, in-your-face, space-invading tipping culture, corrupt officials we were strongly warned against (esp. at Giza) and who wouldn't leave us alone, disrespectful and inappropriate attitude to females (Istanbul was also bad for this), dead horses and dogs in canals, rubbish piled nearly up to first flaw windows in Alexandria. Ugh!
Oh, and I'd forgotten the horrors of Jaywick completely until a PP mentioned it. I was shocked that such a place could exist in 21st century, 'developed' Britain! As for holidaying there, I'd rather check myself in for two weeks at Rampton ...
