Anywhere Disney
Las Vegas
Anywhere that has loads of places advertising English breakfast and Sunday roast
Anywhere that is full of Brits who want the above and are proud to proclaim that they don’t eat “foreign muck”

Blackpool is lovely for a nostalgic 80s holiday. I don't get the hate.

UAE or any country where woman are second class and with no tolerance of LGBT.

Any country that the Uk government doesn't recommend.

Watching the widow last week made me wonder about the congo it looks terrifying.

The Gambia .
I went there with a friend many years ago. It was hell on earth . We spent two weeks being harassed by the local boys/ men . They mostly weren’t allowed inside the hotel complex but they used to stand in groups outside the gate and walk with us to the shop across the road .
One or two of them were allowed into the hotel and used to walk around the pool area . One guy had a police badge and said he was a detective . He was so annoying . He rang our room to invite us for a drink . I think that the staff facilitated certain men to harass the guests . They weren’t threatening but we’re extremely annoying . You could not sunbathe in peace without being disturbed every few minutes .
Then there was the issue of the staff inviting guests to visit their family home . The travel rep said it was innocent and just to take along a packet of biscuits . We declined to go but other guests said that they felt obliged to give them money .
I can see how so many Middle aged women go on holidays there and end up with 20 year old husbands . Those guys think everyone who goes there is a millionaire

Ereshkigal · 14/05/2019 02:05

would love to go but am also quite intimidated to go to
Albania
Armenia
Romania

Definitely go to Albania and Romania (I don't know enough about Armenia). Great cheap holidays, interesting culture.

I went on my own to both as a single woman traveller, took public transport etc. It's fine.

Decormad38 · 14/05/2019 02:13

We toured round Florida it was amazing- Key Largo was gorgeous. Miami - brill.

Wouldn’t want to do to Morecombe. Southport. The Wirral. Southend. Globally- gulf states, pakistan, afghanistan, China doesn’t appeal.

tryingtobebetterallthetime · 14/05/2019 02:22

I know the point of the thread isn't to argue about where is good/bad...but seriously, New Orleans is fucking amazing!

Agree.

ImpracticalCape · 14/05/2019 02:58

Some totally bonkers beliefs and assumptions about Australia here.
Nothing appeals- I travel a lot and Australia has the most mind blowing landscapes and diverse geographies I've ever encountered. Also three really amazing and totally different cities. It's a damn big country and it's an arse to get to but Aus has stacks to offer.

Spiders etc- lived there for a year. Never saw one other than a standard house spider nor did I see any other animal capable of human death (other than a perplexed Kangaroo)

Racist - good grief. Imagine someone staying we are all racist because of Brexit?! There are pockets of old school and unacceptable beliefs and use of phrases that make us naturally flinch (usually in older generations and unfortunately second generation £10 poms) but it's ridiculous to say the whole of Australia is racist. It certainly isn't and it's massively culturally diverse and Aussies are naturally kind, welcoming and unfailingly positive.

Also NZ.... 'far away Scotland' HAHAHAHAHAH! Confused

BunnyJumps · 14/05/2019 03:08

AmICrazyorWhat2 · 14/05/2019 03:19

Central and West Africa. There's another outbreak of Ebola in Congo/DRC Sad

I'm curious about Japan and would love to learn more about the culture.
I loved India when I visited years ago and would go back in a heartbeat.

Strange that so many people are anti-The West Country?! Devon and Cornwall are beautiful!

birdsandroses · 14/05/2019 03:23

Husband went to Jerusalem said it was a shit hole

That’s interesting. I love Jerusalem, It’s such a city of contrasts with the interesting walled Old City divided into Arab, Jewish and Orthodox Christian parts. The Arab section is like a souk. Yet the areas outside the old city are very western, have many stylish cafes and the older buildings throughout Jerusalem are made from golden hued stone (think Cotswolds) which is v pretty.

Bimbop5 · 14/05/2019 03:29

I don't want to go to Dubai, anything Disney, or Vegas.

birdsandroses · 14/05/2019 03:30

I used to not be interested in Japan. However, in recent years someone I know lived there for six months and someone else travelled extensively throughout. Their pictures and experiences made me look at it in a new light. I didn’t realise what varied beautiful scenery there is on the different islands, with the south being tropical and the north mountainous. The temples and bath houses side by side with a hyper modern culture, plus fantastic food make it look a really interesting place to visit.

ObtuseTriangle · 14/05/2019 03:32

For all those saying Australia is too hot here are some of today’s temperatures in Celsius. Sydney 23, Brisbane 25, Melbourne 19, Perth 26, Darwin 33, Hobart 15. Its not winter for another two weeks! We have had snow this week in some parts.

For the pp saying Australia has no culture: you must be forgetting Aboriginal Australian people who have the oldest living culture on earth!

birdsandroses · 14/05/2019 03:35

Impracticalcape, I agree with your comments on Australia. I did think New Zealand wasn’t totally dissimilar to Scotland’s West Coast, although the mountains in the Southern Island are taller and evenmore majestic. Both v beautiful parts of the world.

PanBasher · 14/05/2019 03:37

Anywhere in the UK.
Spain.
France.
