Too big for pampers premium

As2155 · 13/05/2019 19:58

Our boys now in size 7. Pampered premium were great but he’s now too big. We have tried the ultra dry and they’re almost falling apart after a nights sleep. They also seem to be irritating him.

What’s the best sensitive nappy with good protection for size 7 plus?

I’m sure they think they stop growing at size 6

Have you tried the new Tesco junior nappies?

werideatdawn · 13/05/2019 20:02

Dry nites?

dementedpixie · 13/05/2019 20:02

What age and weight is he?

Gertie75 · 13/05/2019 20:03

Tesco do big sizes, dd2 outgrew 6+ in other brands but Tesco only had that size in stock so I bought them and they're much bigger, very soft and not too bulky too.

Fatted · 13/05/2019 20:05

What age?

My gigantic DS1 never needed bigger than size 6 nappies. They didn't make size 7 when he was little!

Have you tried pull ups? We moved onto the pampers nappy pants by the time they were walking and then onto pull ups from 2.

ScottishBadger · 13/05/2019 20:06

Tesco do an own brand extra large now.

dementedpixie · 13/05/2019 20:06

I didn't know they made size 7 either.

As2155 · 13/05/2019 20:06

He’s 1 and a half but he’s about as tall as a 3 year old

My 8 year old was in size 7 (he has complex needs including bowel issues). The weight on the pack is 16-26kg...that would be a pretty big 3 year old, let alone 1 year old!!

JockTamsonsBairns · 13/05/2019 20:18

What on earth does your one year old weigh? Hazeyjane's post suggests that a size 7 would only be just slightly small on my 12yo ds!

ihatemyjobsomuch · 13/05/2019 20:20

I think you need to shop around a bit.
I have a 5 year old (who’s wears 7 year old clothes) with SN who still needs to wear nappies and he can still fit into the shop ones.
I’m pretty sure they go up to about 25kgs which is the weight of an average 8 1/2 to 9 year old so maybe it’s it’s the brand pampers that’s the issue.

I think maybe you need to shop around and try other brands to see what else works. Have you tried pull up pants they might be better. The Aldi nappies are also brilliant, my child had lots of reactions to pampers but the Aldi ones were great.

My 6 yr old (special needs) wears size 5! How big is your 1 yr old?? What does he weigh?

Greyhound22 · 13/05/2019 20:31

🤔 my large 4 year old is in a 6 for nights - how on earth is a 1.5 year old in a 6 already?

WhiteDust · 13/05/2019 20:33

Your 12 YO must be tiny for his age.

scaredofthecity · 13/05/2019 20:34

My DS was huge, way above 98th centile, and we never needed 7s. Have you tried 6+?

SoyDora · 13/05/2019 20:37

My 5.5 year old is 17.5kgs, I can’t see how a 1.5 year old is too big for size 6? Even if they’re the size of a 3 year old!

Ceebs85 · 13/05/2019 20:39

Just be careful because a friend swore by tesco's but they've changed recently and are apparently smaller

NCforThisO6 · 13/05/2019 20:42

@greyhound22 my 9 month old baby is in a size 5 nappy! It wont be long before she is in a size 6.
Her sister who is 2 is in size 6 but they are getting quite tight but I can't afford Pampers so I'm just gonna have to potty train her!

SoyDora · 13/05/2019 20:43

Mine never got bigger then a size 5, and DD2 was 98th centile!

JockTamsonsBairns · 13/05/2019 20:48

@whitedust yes, to be fair, he is tiny for his age. 29kg, so just outside of the range for size 7.

MatchSetPoint · 13/05/2019 20:54

Pampers nappy pants go up to a size 7 maybe try those, I doubt they would be too small, when my five year old had S&D last month I made him wear them at night (I promised I wouldn’t tell a soul) so they would easily fit your 1.5year old.

elliejjtiny · 13/05/2019 20:57

I use the pull ups with Spider-Man on them (I think they are called huggies dry nights) with a kotex night time sanitary towel for added absorbancy. They are the ones that work best on my nearly 6 year old.

Bippityboo2 · 13/05/2019 21:11

I've a tall 20 month old, who weighs about 35lb, she still fits in 5+ no bother, though if it's Pampers we're just starting to go into 6. If it's nappy pants (which it usually is) they're still size 5. I used to swear by Tesco nappies, as she's got older I find asda fit her better. Not all fit the same so it's maybe worthwhile trying different brands in size 6/6+.

Wanderlusting99 · 13/05/2019 22:59

Is it possible they're leaking because they're too big? Bigger does not equal more absorbent. My 7 year old is still in nappies at night (hormonal imbalance) and wears a 5, I find it hard to think a toddler is bigger.

IncyWincyGrownUp · 13/05/2019 23:17

Libero are cracking, but you can only get them online.
